Also, your KB is 91, arrived at like this (1240-90-1059) ... you use the actual 'stock' boost clock for your card (which is 1059, since it's OC'd) in the calculation, not a reference card's boost value (980).
You should the 3dmark11 bench in 'stretched' mode, picks up a few hundred points, grows the epeen for free thumb.gif

Haha yeah SF is a good place to get recommendations to visit. Just spent last night up on Bernal Heights watching the fireworks. good stuff =D

Is it normal that my card only uses around 39% power while I'm playing Skyrim?

You're running either vsync or adaptive vsync, yes? So there's your answer. The GPU isn't trying to render additional frames so less power.

What mods are you running? Texture packs? If you want cripple your performance, you can try this.

Thanks for the reply. I think I have vsync on. I'm not sure. How do I look that up? I thought there was something wrong with my card and that's why it was using such little power. If that's how it's supposed to be then I won't worry about it.

I only have the high texture pack downloaded from Steam. I don't have any other mods.

If anyone is still watching this thread I've got a quick question.

I got one of the gigabyte cards a few days ago and out of the box my boost clock is 1137MHz.

However, the weird thing is that when I OC it using AB, the boost clock does not increase by the same amount as the OC I apply. For example, the boost I get for different OC's I've tried is as follows (measured by applying OC, the keeping the AB monitoring on and playing a couple of BF3 64-man multiplayer maps at ultra)

Core Offset Max Boost Max Power % Observed
0 1137 85%
+100 228 (should be 1237?) 91%
+150 1280 (should be 1287?) 95%
+160 1285 (should be 1297?) 94%

Has anyone else noticed a similar behaviour?

By the way, whenever I apply a core clock offset I also increase the Power Limit (%) on AB to 112%. Observed max voltage is 1.175V irrespective of OC.

Any ideas?

Par ... it's probably just the stepping on the card ... not every clock speed is actually attainable, sometimes there's as much as 13MHz between steps, and the driver will just 'pick' between two available steps for you based on the offset.

My power usage % has never even 100%, it's normal on these cards. They're calibrated with a higher TDP than most 670's because they have the 8-pin instead of 6-pin, which makes the usage % lower.

Just ordered mine, should be here Monday. Hyped for the upgrade to a single card over my crossfire 6870's.

Has anyone here tried the latest BIOS from GB? Mine runs 1272 core clock for daily use and 1278~1280 for e-peen Benchmarks.

Since GB is claiming additional stability, I'm wondering whether or not the newer BIOS would yield slightly higher OC. Here's the link to the latest BIOS: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4211&dl=1#bios

Thanks Bret, that makes sense.

So following on from what you said about the power usage %, I take it then that there's no point increasing the limit in AB over 100% then, right?

All in all I have to say, this was quite a step up for me from my old 5850 biggrin.gif

Hi, I post the last test performed with my GTX670 GB OC:

OC x Benchs: 1110Mhz / 1702Mhz (6808Mhz QDDR)
OC x 24/7: 1059MHhz / 1652Mhz (enough for all games in high/xtreme settings + vsync ON)
GPU Offset: +130
RAM Offset: +400
Max Temp: 61º
Max GPU Clock: Kepler Boost (91) + Boost Clock (1189) = 1280Mhz
Stable: 2 Loop 3DMark11 + 4 Loop Heaven 3.0 Max + 2h Crysis 2 Extreme.
