Summary up until this post:

OP paid $525 AUD for the 670.

Running 3D Mark11 in "centered' significantly decreases your graphics score compared to "stretched" mode.

Both 670s seen and tested here do not have a reference PCB. (both purchased the same GIGABYTE card)

* 550W (or greater) power supply with one 150W 8 pin PCI-E power connector and one 75W 6-pin PCI-E power connector required.

( These tests were ran at 16x/8x )

(no game benchmarks have been given in this thread for the SLI 670 configuration)

Maybe having a shader unit disabled increases its 3mark11 score despite its lower clock speeds in comparison with the 680.

Updating drivers to 301.25 or beta 301.34 doesn't change much. People mentioned waiting for more 'refined' drivers for the 680 to see whether they can unlock its OC potential.

The 670 has 8+6-pin PCIE connections

The 670's voltage is locked, OP states MSI afterburner allows for custom voltage but it reverts to normal after several seconds.

Others suggested the 680 is originally the 670/670ti. More speculation: NVIDIA just named it the 680 to make more money.

GTX 670 card length - "Exactly 276mm long from tip of fan housing to the plate that sits against the case exterior.
10.87 inches"

Wait for the 10th for conclusive results

All credit goes to OP Martyr82 for sharing with everyone and for putting up with our demands, and Oridin for providing the second 670 for the SLI results!

EDIT: Fixed link and added a couple things since this morning.

Nice summary there mate, summed it up well.

The 670 results are certainly impressive.

The best 3Dmark11 score my 680 can manage is:

2500k @ 4.9ghz
GTX 680 at 1312mhz 3DMark Direct x 11 score: 10463 3DMarks
Graphics score 11201
Vmem clock @ 6696ghz
PCIE 16x 2.0

Any higher frequency on the gpu clock and it crashes, VMem is near maxed too.

Im wondering if there will be a difference between the long and short boards - I personally am looking at getting a short pcb ... I liked my little 5770 and its shorter stature.

Out of interest I installed Virtu MVP and got the following results with GTX 680 and intel HD3000:

Stock

CPU @ 4.5ghz using Virtu MVP
Onboard graphics: HD3000 (stock)
GTX 680 at 1110mhz 3DMark Direct x 11 score: 11397 3DMarks
Graphics score 13283
Vmem clock @ 6008
PCIE 2.0 16x

Overclocked

CPU @ 4.9ghz using Virtu MVP
Onboard graphics: HD3000 (stock)
GTX 680 at 1312mhz 3DMark Direct x 11 score: 12787 3DMarks
Graphics score 15319
Vmem clock @ 6642
PCIE 2.0 16x

I'm wondering if OP disabled Virtu Green rather than Virtu MVP? As MVP increased the FPS by a fair margin in my testing

My mobo (Z68XP-UD3R) doesn't have virtu MVP, just 'Lucid Virtu'. Whatever that is. It was brought up a few pages back and tested the same (slightly better) at stock with it disabled.

Guys before creating more panic I think we're making a big deal out of this, but should we gtx 680 owners be concerned? NO, so why? Everytime there are benchmarks comparisons between 2 gpus it has to be done either with stock clocks or OC at the same speeds.

The card who should be tested against this gtx 670 should be this one:

http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4178#sp

Besides sorry dude but I think your card is OCed to 1200 (cheers is a good OC) either way if you are aware or not

We all we'll have to wait until it's released and there are "bullet proff" benchmarks from well known sites like Toms, or OC.net

Regards
