Gigabyte GTX 670 OC Version *HANDS ON* - Page 64

Hmm wondering if the short board can be sli'd with the long boards.. I would imagine so as they are the same GPU.. May be getting another next week, but not sure if the windforce cards will still be available.

It'd look funny as hell! thumb.gif
Surely you could wait a week to get two the same though? smile.gif

Just would like to thank the OP and the other contributors to this forum. I am now convinced to purchase this card now haha. I just have 2 questions though...

1. How loud is the card? I'm expecting it to be louder than most cards due to the 3 fans and is it very audible under load?
2. How much hotter do the insides of the case get since its exhausts heat inside the case?

I have a fractal r3 define case and I want it to be as quiet as possible so I won't be removing any moduvents. Do you think installing this card in my case would cause problems in terms of sound and heat? The graphics card is basically the last component I need to buy, so I appreciate all your help. Thanks! biggrin.gif

It's a shame mine doesn't overclock as much as the other Gigabyte cards in this thread. Have been having driver crashes alot, even at +80 the drivers would crash. Still, can't complain considering I was going to get a 580 afew weeks ago.. haha

1) Not very loud because these cards run very cool. Only at 1350 core clock and 1850 memory clock did I get temps hovering over 70.
2) I didn't take note of that.

Nvidia is holding back I feel, they have the cards (puns, lol) to win this game, they're just making sure they play them in the right order. Kepler has soo much potential given more volts and pcb size.

Finally ran a 3dmark11 extreme test and was pretty pleased with the result (+70 OC)
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3387590 (compared to my 460sli score http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3019295 ) quite the increase for alot less noise and less power.

1- During that 3dmark11 run I just did it was very quiet on auto fan setting, almost no noise at all! I don't think the temps went above 55c during the run (I'll have to double check that though).
2- I ran 2 gtx460 hawks overclocked alot, at load they would be at about 75c, and they dump heat into the case, and aslong as you have some ventilation it isn't that big of an issue, maybe afew degrees (4-5c).
So I must say even though mine doesn't overclock as high as the others in this thread I am extremely happy with it! So much so that about 15mins ago I nearly pulled the trigger on another one!! haha But remembered I have to wait until next week.. tongue.gif

The GTX 670 lineup went up for sale on Newegg about an hour ago. This Gigabyte OC version is listed at $399, and to me, it seems like the best of the bunch so far. Needless to say I ordered one, and my brand new still in the box Sapphire 7970 OC is going back to Amazon. I'm not going to risk cap/coil whine on the Sapphire card (been reported quite a bit on many 7970s) for a card that in many cases under performs this card unless clocks are pushed.

Get em while they're hot!
