hey Golden, I was doing some research on EVGA forums regarding the two cards being out of sync...apparently alot of other users with 670 and 680's are reporting the same over at EVGA forums...so its a common thing with the newer gen cards....even EVGA stepped in and said its normal and customers should not worry

Also, what were your core clocks with each card again?

Man i love this card, had 570 SLI before, but sold those because went to army, now army starts to be over and time to get some toys again! smile.gif

Yeah looks like you got a 1202 stock boost card, like the OP. Very nice.

The "lower" card won't go beyond ~1220 when placed alone without crashing, whereas the "high" card can go to 1280+ without issue (I didn't try higher for long enough to deem stable but it would run 1300+ briefly when I tried it). I contacted amazon by email and just told them the truth as to why I was dissatisfied with one of the cards (different speeds, much different OC in pair), and they already have scheduled a UPS pickup for it for a refund on Monday (since they're out of stock they can't just cross-ship a replacement)... as soon as they get them in stock I'll be snapping up a new 2nd one (I have an add-on checking for me biggrin.gif). Good to hear about the sync part not hurting anything technically... if it happens again I won't worry about it this time and just stick with what I get. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, my "high" card is like that too, boosts to ~1200 on its own without being touched. My "low" card only goes to about 1130 when left stock frown.gif.

It's quite common in SLI to have to accept a lower overall overclock. I assume the "low" one runs at 1220 even while installed individually?

Hmm, I can't find any reviews on the EVGA GTX 670 4GB

I wonder if there's any gains from 670 4GB SLI (reference PCB) compared to Windforce 670 OC SLI

I'm likely going to get either of the two pairs but I am not sure if 2X4GB VRAM is overkill for maxing out 5760x1080 resolution when compared to 2X2GB VRAM..especially if the price difference is going to be $140

Also since the 670OC is reported for having 388W at full load, I dunno if my seasonic X750 can handle SLI and an overclocked system.

It wasn't the overclock that bothered me (I've been doing this for around 15 years, I know OC's vary and it is NOT a reason for a return of an item), it was the clock differences when they're both at the same offset being so far apart (~60-70mhz) while in SLI. I wouldn't have even bothered regarding just a low oc, that's not a reason for a return as I said and is not part of the product's guaranteed performance.

EDIT: To clarify, as an example one card will run at 1215mhz, while the other is at 1280, while in SLI and watching afterburner in-game. As it turns out I guess from evga now it's normal, but I didn't see that at the time when I had submitted an exchange request.

Just got my pair, they're awesome overclockers in SLI.

+125 Core and +500 memory, rock stable in every game and benchmark I can throw at them while staying full 1300 MHZ on the core.

Only problem is heat, the fan's are huffing 80% max to keep the first card under 70. Anyone else have this problem? I know these cards can OC more, especially the memory, it's amazing, but I just can't dissipate the heat fast enough.

I'll be going to put two antec Kuhler 620's on them, from the bracket made by a fellow member here to see how far i can push them.

My bet: NOT worth the $140 for the 4GB, if it's in fact that much more for 2.

And 388W is for the entire system, dude. Your X750 could EASILY do SLI with these cards, with a fat OC on everything including your fans and hard drives tongue.gif ... I think a 650W could pull it off actually.

So they have different amount of 'Kepler Boost', as I'm calling it. That is a pretty huge difference, must've gotten the far end of the spectrum of variability of how much this amount can be with two given samples.

Next card, you can just disable 'sync similar cards' in Afterburner, and dial up an extra 65 Clock Offset for the slower card ... then boom, they should be at equal operating clocks thumb.gif

hey guys, just received my package for two Gigabyte 670's

I only put one in for now...I'm actually going to test each one individually to see their potential...then SLI them later after getting results for each

So far my first card completely stock is boosting to 1189mhz. Same as brettjv...is this considered a pretty good card?
