Can my board handle x4 2GB 1066mhz Dominators?

Hello everyone.

I have P5Q Deluxe and currently 2x2GB Corsair Dominator 1066mhz.
I found another two sticks of 1066mhz dominators that are even the same version, (1.1).
I've read online that theres problems running 8gb dominators on P45 chipsets and i could run them probably at 1066mhz 5-6-6-18, right now i run 4gb at 5-5-5-18 and i could probably do 5-5-5-15 1180-1190mhz at 2.2V. So my question is , is it any good to upgrade to 8GB or will i be fine with an Q6600, 4GB dominator, gtx 260?

Oh and i know the Pentium 4 sucks but its a temp thing biggrin.gif.

E: Talking performance wise not budget tongue.gif.

Windows 7 32bit will not recognize more than 4gb of ram.

If you happen to have a win7 64bit lying around I would definitely install the other 4 and see if it adds any performance.

My brothers rig is a p5q/ e7400, which i just overclocked recently, and I wish i could throw another 4gb into the board with the 4 he already has just to give it some extra oomph. Unfortunately I'm not willing to spend extra money on his rig, would be a different story if it was mine though.
as mentioned above and i see in your sig that you have win 7 32bit, this will only see approx 3.5GB of RAM.. you will need to get a 64bit version of win7 then you will be good to go thumb.gif

also the main thing with RAM as long as voltages match your ok, its also recommended for stability you have the same voltages and timings

Oh yeah the specs are outdated, i have 64bit. I use to have just 3gb of kingston hence the 32bit in the sig.
The rams are exactly the same, no difference. But im worried that memory controller cant handle the extra strain that 4x2gb 1066mhz rams strain on it. So i was wondering if ~1100-1150mhz 4GB beats 900-1000mhz 8GB? Keep in mind im planning to have Q6600 3.6 and GTX 260 clocked to GTX 275 perf, wouldnt those be bottlenecks also, planning to game on max 1360x768.

Realistically you should be fine with the added ram at 1066.

Your performance would go down by lowering the clocks, but if you were previously hitting the ram wall( by maxing out), then the upgrade is warranted.

Really only you playing the games will be able to tell the bottleneck. The cpu, ram, and gfx were all very good for their time, as well as released relatively close to the same time. I would say if anything, the bottleneck would be the entire computer in some of the newer games if your having problems at 1360x768. Without a total overhaul I wouldn't worry about bottlenecks too much.

Alright since my cooler is very noisy i avoid using it and overclocking the memories until i get some lubricant in that thing. Right now i run 8gbs at 800mhz, i tried running 1066mhz and it booted smile.gif So you can run x4 2GB Dominators i guess smile.gif

you will need to raise nb voltage a lilttle to get the ram to run stable at 1066 with all 4 slots full, i would recommend since you have ver 1.1 dominators to just run 800 4-4-3-5 2.2v for stability.

I just added some oil to the fans and now their running like new, going to change to win 7 64bit now, right now i have xp 32bit -.-.
So would it be better to run it at 800 4-4-3-5 2.2v than like 1066 5-5-5-18?
