I know this thread has been posted before, but I wanted to test it after the last patch to see if there will be an improvement if you have HT on in BF3
Well here are my results:
-First test run was in Gulf of Oman Rush - I start by blowing up a tank with c4 then i get into the Amtrak and go to B and blow up some buildings then i walk around and shoot some stuff thats pretty much it

-Second run was in Damavand Peak Rush - I played a 2 whole games which were around 15 mins long each

-Third run was in campaign - The mission that Linus from LinusTechTips uses here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ib_AJQRWdE

My game settings:

338

875K @ 4GHz HT on

Average: 71.955
Min: 47
Max: 113

875K @ 4GHz HT off

Average: 64.665
Min: 42
Max: 102

Everything was recorded with fraps. The min and max values were rounded.

So i guess that HT on would actually benefit you in this game since the patch

System:
875K @ 4GHz: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2358512
gtx 480 Stock
8gbs Kingston hyper x
Corsair TX750w
Asus P7P55D-E Pro
Eco Coolit Alc push/pull
27" Asus 1080p monitor
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
The game was ran from 2x WD 1Tb drives in raid 0

I know that this is probably not the best way to test it but I wanted to do have some real multiplayer benchmarks

Note: I also added a pole to see how many people actually use HT in games
Note: Note: I screwed up the pole you can select multiple answers pls select only one

I just got a 2700K and with both at 5GHz it seems from the seat of my pants to be faster on average in BF3 than the 2500K was.

The 2700k is supposed to be around 10% faster in games than the 2500k clock for clock

Throwing away a 2500k so you can get a 2700k doesn't make any sense, since the performance is so similar and the cost difference is around $100, I would keep my 2500k.
