Yeah, Only 17 bucks shipped for 4 of them off ebay. Might take a couple weeks to get them but now that I know what ones I'm using I can go ahead and paint the case. Going to start on that tonight.

I love Duplicolor Grabber Green. The wheels on my Mazda were that color.

Mini update. Got new parts for this build. I built a PC for a coworker and he is selling it to me. (wrecked his truck needs cash)

Specs:
Intel i5-2500k,
ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 board,
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB SDRAM DDR3 1600
Seagate 500 GB HD

The rest I will reuse except the case on the update I'm doing for my wife's PC soon. I have 3-4 more builds in the works for the next month or so. Most of them are Budget mods. But i will post build logs anyway.

Cheers Alder.

One more Mini - Update. I have built and/or rebuilt 3 PC's in the last 3 days. I sold my ASRock 770extreme3 Motherboard that was in my [Cool Blue] build for 45 dollars. I sold the Athlon II dual core 3.0 Ghz out of my wifes PC for 40 dollars.

I took the EVGA 550Ti and Phenom II 555 Black Edition CPU and 500 GB HD out of my [Cool Blue] and put them in my Wife's computer.

Then I put the Athlon and 770 MoBo into a old black windows XP box that happened to have a 250 GB HD (IDE which is fine the 770 has legacy support for IDE) I'm going to do a mini build log for that PC when I get finished with it as well. The whole thing cost $120 cash plus a few of my old fans and a old wireless card I had in a yardsale PC.

Then I bought the PC I was talking about in the last post.
Sorry Its a Blurry Pic.
7472355828_5bc0babc7f.jpg

Transferred ALL my old files over to it so my wife could use the HD and then rebuilt it as well with my old SSD and Ram. As soon as the [Black Box] is ready I will be putting this system in it. So Final system specs will be

i5 2500K with CM hyper 212+ evo (overclocked of course)
16 GB Gskills Ram at DDR3 1600
ASRock Gen3 Pro3 Z68 MoBo with PCI-e 3.0
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 GPU (overclocked)
LG CD/DVD Drive
Seagate F3 500 GB HD
Muskin Cronos 60 GB SSD
Rosewill Hive 650 PSU

Total out of pocket $683 (Thats only the hardware, Haven't figured my case costs up yet)

I think under $700 for a PC with these specs is pretty good? What do you think?

Cheers, Alder

Ok, big update is here.. Started working on the front Bezel today. I need to make this headphones and USB hub fit in the large slot in the top of the front.

7498273298_0a7ec0a4bb.jpg

I decided to make a plastic backing to mount the USB to to... I traced and cut out the bezel

..
7498267186_7241ae7f30.jpg

Made a rough outline and sanded the whole thing so Paint will stick later

7498262236_68242f31b3.jpg

Then I scribed a line where the back of the bezel would need to be cut off...

7498260350_6186e161b4.jpg

And set to work on it with my Dremel. I cut it a bit long so I could file a nice clean edge.

7498258490_f5480fcc53.jpg
It cuts pretty easy..
7498256310_7dee6688d6.jpg
..

Almost done cutting

7498254968_d616ca54cc.jpg

Time to set to work with the files both large and small

7498252608_571b9b4150.jpg

And here we are. After enough filing to give a robot a root canal we have a flat bezel lip.

...
7498243306_79f170e6b4.jpg

Now i have to cut a smaller peice of plastic for the plug to fit inside and get the screws fit in place for the bezel.

But first the drill needs to recharge and my wife showed up with this so I took a break.

Yum. So part two of this mod will be in a couple hours

Cheers, Alder

Nice job on restoring the box thumb.gif

Now you just need to do some paint tricks to make it look old again on the outside biggrin.gif

Got to let it have some character.

Thanks!!

Yeah, I went to buy a airbrush. but they are pretty pricey... I might get some heavy bristle brushes and silver paint and crackle finish going. We will see.

Micro Update:

I got my Latches in today from Hong Kong.

I'm just waiting on the fan grills from Dwood to get here and I'll be ready to finish this thing.

Cheers. Alder
