I have been using it as my main PC for three weeks now. It looks awesome but it needs finishing. No USB on the front is a real pain... I'm doing a little each night. I should have it complete by mid November

Ok, So sometimes concepts need reworked. I am finding that I don't like the DVD and HDD on the lid at all. I can't get the latch system to suit me. Also I didn't have room for my CM hyper 212 EVO under the lid. As I started to work on the sleeving I figured out that a need a redesign.

So new plan, Nix the DVD drive for a external unit and relocate the SSD and HDD to the box itself. Then I will also scrap the system I designed to hold the lid up so I could get to the DVD drive. I will cut the drive cages off the lid and cut a window in the center of it and then reassemble the PC and finish all the LED's and sleeving. So right now I'm shutting down [Black Box] and stuffing the important bits into my old Haf 922 and getting to work on finishing this thing.

For reference these are the 2 parts I will be cutting off...

And here's a pic of the top of the lid. I think I will hold about 12mm back from the inside of that ridge and use SS bolts to fasten the window.

I will then be able to take the lid off easier to show it off inside. I'm also going to do a sand and repaint the whole case except for the grills and Mobo tray...

What do you guys think?

I'm thinking you could get it looking good like that. Judging by your work from the rest of the case, I'm excited about it. thumb.gif

One more thing I think: You need to finish this thing up! It's too sexy and too promising to not be finished biggrin.gif
Sorry, I've just been drooling over it since Spring Semester exams!

Finished Cutting and filing the window area last night. Still have to grind the last bits of the Nuts and welds off the back and then repaint.

Hopefully my Camera will be in in the next couple days and I will have better pictures of all of this.

I am working on wiring up the LED's and mounting the Hardrive inside the case today and I should have it all back together in time for MoTM

Cheers. Alder

Ok, guys... Got a bunch of stuff done today...

Always start with a clean modding area..

Doesn't my desk look sad with a plain unmodded case perched on it?

lol...

Ok here is a couple of before shots...

I took the front Bezel off

Here is the front audio and usb that I have to mount..

I used a set of small bolts that I bought like 4 months ago.. I'm shocked I didn't lose them..

Then I Sleeved the wires going to the front panel...

I had a little gap in the U-channel at the bottom of each front fan I wasn't happy with.

I had bought a few little clips to fix that.. I pealed the rubber off them and hammered them flat and then bent them around a screwdriver shaft. I then filed and roughed them up so they would look cool..

I mounted the Front bezel back on and added a switch to the center of it... I still have one more hole on the front to find something to cover.

Ok, I'm going to get back at it..

I still have to Repaint the lid,
Install the Top Window,
Install and wire and sleeve the LED'S on the bottom of the case and the inside,
install the fan block that lets me run both front fans off the Bios.

I'm sure there's like 100 more things I am forgetting... Here's a shot of the case as it sits now.

Cheers, Alder (Jeremy)

More progress, You guys that have followed my thread might remember my "Custom Wet Sanding Booth"... XD

I sanded the lid down and took it outside to prime, its totally dark so no pictures of the primer.

Then I finished the 6 pin PCI-E sleeving. I decided to swap the red ends for black on the gpu side.

Fixing to start on LED's

Cheers, Alder (Jeremy)

Oh...... I have a question.... You guys think I should clean the top of the lid up with Bondo and make it smooth? Or just repaint it flat black and leave the "Patina" marks?
