Yeah, that's kinda how I was leaning. I can always take the lid off and redo it later. It's has battle scars now.

Anyone ever notice that sometimes hours of work only really make a couple pictures? Anyway I got the LED's on the bottom of the case all soldered together and tested. I used a 9 volt battery to test them.. Looks really cool. I am wiring the center pull knob to turn the bottom LED's off and on. I still have to run those wires down from the inside.

Here is the pictures.

I have to pick up some wiring clips and couple other things to finish that tomorrow..

I am getting SO stoked to finish this thing.

Cheers, Alder (Jeremy)

Thanks guys...

I solved one of the things that has been bothering me. Where to mount the HDD and SSD now that the ill-fated lid mount is gone?? I solved it!!

Used my old mock-up HDD

I found a HDD rack from a old HP

It almost sticks by itself. i just took out one bolt from the case handle and it stuck there!!

Used one of my little clips, had to bend it with a Vise-grips and a Hammer

I drilled a hole...

And mounted a mock-up...

I figure I can piggy-back the SSD with Tape unto the HDD..

I took it outside and gave it a prime and paint after a good sanding. (More Green!!)

I guess the Modding thing is contagious look who I found in my chair when I got back!!!

Thats all for tonight... My thumbs are sore and its like 50 F outside so it will be all night drying on that bracket..

I will put the HDD and SSD drives in tomorrow and sleeve the sata cable after I get the plugs in the right spot. (I'll Borrow the SSD and HDD from Conundrum to get the fit right.)
I still have to mount the window paint the lid (its primed) and wire a few more LED'S and switches... Should have it up and running in a couple nights.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

Well, I am done sleeving, Yes thats it. No more burnt fingers(oh wait I got to start on Conundrum soon).

I shortened the 4 pin molex and sleeved it.

I also moved the Sata cable ends around. I only wanted the 2 I needed. I had the spots where the clips came off, I didn't want to take a chance so I covered it with 3mm shrink. I did this in each spot that had a clip.

I had little gaps where the heat shrink started to move when I really bent the wires to put the on the Drives. I found a solution. I put super glue on the wires and slid the shrink back into place. I then used a small paint brush and painted the little gaps with Liquid Electrical Tape.

I mounted the HDD mount. I piggy-backed the HDD and SSD.

Well, all thats left is painting the lid and mounting the window, and finishing the LED's Hopefully I'll get that done tomorrow

Cheers, Alder (Jeremy)

Oh yeah... Heres what the inside looks like now...

I got the LED's for the underside wired to the switch. These hitlights are rated for 12 volts so I wired them up to a switch thats also rated for plenty of volts. Took some better pictures

Its pretty bright..

Now I have to solder up the upper case lights and get them hooked to the Lamptron switch.

So I'm going to say, unless the "patina" is mostly homogenous....I'd be afraid that it'll make it look cheap/poorly done. It's the only problem I've had with the case mod this whole thread. It looks great, but I think some of the imperfections were a little too much to make it look good. Some imperfections look fine, but some of the chunks on your case looked like you painted over flaky rust.

My only other thing is I'm still not sure about the green. I really like it, but I almost wish it were a more "classy" color. The black/bronze/silver is sexy and classy....the green isn't the classy contrast your case could really have. However, it does pop. I like it, and my fiancee is in LOVE...but I'm wondering what it would've looked like with more bronze accents/fans/etc to match with that gorgeous front-center plaque.
