There seems to be a misconception here that ground wires are somehow pointless or not very important. What you need to keep in mind is that the ground wires are what actually carry the electrons; the terminology of + and - is misleading. Implementing more ground wires improves voltage regulation and reduces the effects of EMI. The sense wire is optional; most budget PSUs don't have +12V sense at all, and most higher-end models that do have sense have it on the EPS12V cable or at most one of the PCIe cables. Implementing it on all PCIe cables would be prohibitively costly.

You are right, I confused the Signature series with the upcoming FTW series. They look very similar, but the FTW does in fact feature a vapor chamber cooler.
