I knew I should have gone quadsli 690's.

My sig rig was getting some stuttering in the town during beta. It seemed like wierd microstuttering though, not FPS issues. I noticed that turning vsync on in the ingame options reduced it a lot (even though I have vsync forced in my drivers!).

Every now and then my FPS would drop into the 30s-40s, and feel more like 20s, for no apparent reason before returning to 60+. I do have Ambient Occlusion on Quality, 16x AF, etc set in my driver control panel though. Beta is beta. I've seen streaming videos of people experiencing the same, so I only assume it's a drivers/beta.

That's besides the point, and lets be honest most of the people playing this game want far greater eye candy than a laptop can deal with.

I also have had a few odd performance hiccups with the beta on both my desktop and laptop. I'm thinking that a lot of it has to do with the debugging that they still have enabled within the program, and the beta client wasn't optimized much.

With this article keep in mind that this was with the beta client. The final client's performance right now is a mystery, but I expect a few more FPS due to the optimization improvements. thumb.gif

why is a 6770 performing better than a 6850?
497
edit:
Quote:
Note that the Radeon HD 6770 beats AMD's Radeon HD 6850. We tested and re-tested these cards to make sure this wasn’t a mistake. For some reason, the Radeon HD 6770 gets exceptionally high performance at the highest detail levels and lower resolutions. We're not sure why, but the board's performance drops relative to the 6850 as resolution increases.

interesting ..

Its good that Blizzard is doing this to help those with lower tiered pcs. Im just sick of some of the people that compare this game to BF3 for its "modern" graphics.

D3 will be a good game and successful. Guess I'm all set with an i7 920 and SLI gtx 460. However TERA has been great fun with it's likeness to vanilla and BC Wow.
