The Comm Rose sucks in that most people are oblivious. You scream "AMMO, AMMO, AMMO!" and jump around in front of them... and they just run off.

So many times, so little response. Probably 10% actually are listening. While I on the other hand anytime I hear a team mate call out I instantly stop what I'm doing to drop ammo or health kit

Oh man....

Bought this game for the "team work" everyone always talked about. Ha. I've been on teams with about 6 support guys and not 1 single ammo box gets dropped. They ignore the comma rose, shoot/slash at them and they look at you funny then run off. I've actually swtiched to assault cause they seem to have the best weps now and I never get a rez in pubs so I just do it all, or try to anyway.

I've got a true love/hate thing going with BF3.

OT: I'm hoping the spawns are better in the CQB pack for TDM. I'll buy it and, unless Armored Kill proves to be epic, it'll be the last thing I buy for BF3.

not sure where you heard about the "team work" but it plays like just about every other game out there... unless you are forming your own "team", there isn't much "work" going on. lol

i like to refer to BF3/MW3/etc games as an example of "Chaos in action"

Play hardcore mode and nothing else.

All you have to do is stick with a group of people and you're bound to get some good teamwork going even without headsets.

Hardcore mode is basically the normal mode of BF2.

With no auto heal, people stick to medics because you actually need them and medics stick to you because they know you need them.

Same with engis. With no auto repair, they are needed much more.

With no 3D spotting, the recons T-UGS and MAV become invaluable and suppression actually works in hardcore mode.

It's stupid imo that they named it "hardcore mode". They should have named it "teamwork facilitating" mode and called normal mode "Shoot at guys" mode.

Honestly ingame VOIP isn't horribly important since there are no commanders to shout orders at people. If you need VOIP it is mostly with your buddies and then you can get on Skype, TS, Mumble, etc.

I wonder if that was me you were knifing/shouting at. Yeah, commo rose kind of sucks since it's not a guarantee that the other players can even receive the message amidst the sounds and the game and the crazy bloom in some maps. Btw, if that was you, I'm sorry. I don't always play support so I couldn't figure out why this engineer was bothering me. After a while that match though I realize if I threw ammo at him he'd leave me alone. People can learn!

I agree that voip is totally necessary, if only among squad. sticking next to guys in your squad more often than not gets the whole squad killed by an inoppurtune tank or chopper since without good communication you have to sick that close together to keep track of where they are. Also, when trying to watch each others back, you often end up running in different directions. Above all, I want to tell my squad to stay alive for us to spawn. One guy who hands on long enough to spawn his squad can often change the tide.

I'm not a big fan of hc. I'm not very good and I'll sometimes toss a random nade or mow someone down that runs in front of me, lol.

I used to mostly play with the guys from OCN but, a few are gonna be playing Diablo 3 and I've also been hot dogging TDM to be ready for the CQB pack so I haven't been using my TS3 lately...gets in the way of my blaring music. Nothing like some really loud Prodigy or Tool to get the juices flowing. thumb.gif I've pretty much given up on conquest.

Thanks for the tips, though.

I'd like to play on a server that disables the HUD and makes you aim down the sights or really know how to hip fire.

I guess the games just not for you then tbh.

However if you cant deal with hardcore mode, I have no idea how you're gonna deal with ArmA 3 lol.

Every time you change a game you would have to then take several minutes to change chat server information. Why should I have to manually change the voice chat channel every time I wanted to talk to my teammates? Plus it is always fun meeting new people and cooperating with people you randomly met, and end up effectively using in game VOIP. Not to mention not everyone in the game wants to go through the extra effort to join a 3rd party server when the damn feature should be standard such as myself.
It pisses me off when I see people say I don't need the feature I have TS. Well that's nice, but its not all about you, other people like to communicate without being forced to use 3rd party programs.

Agreed. Although not as...staunchly as you seem to be. XD When I played BC2 on the 360, I almost never used the voice chat because I hate 11-15 yr olds singing. When I migrated to the bc2 PC version, I started using the mic a lot. I'd just use it for basic survival things. Like...'i'll fix, u drive'. Or 'behind us x!!!' where X=guy I was with but im dead because someone came up behind us. Quick situations where you need to say 2-5 words as fast as possible to save your teammate(s). And I made a couple friends to add to my steam friend list so I could play with people who talked. Plain and simple, you have better communication and teamwork when you can chat. That is why I too, wish we had in-game VOIP for squads.

To go against the 'just use the server's TS or vent chat channel'. Well, unfortunately only half or a little more than that have chatservers open to the public. The ones that do, tend to have mostly server regs or clan members who(from my experience i guess?) aren't interested in working with...or at least, listening too, a new guy who they might never see again. So then you just went through all the alt+tab minimizing and effort to punch in their chat server info just to really have it be useless. Don't even get me started on sonar. Doesn't install properly. Didn't detect mic properly. Ate up my bandwidth. After all that, all it does is provide the same service teamspeak does, but for free. It doesn't fill the gap of random players wishing to communicate.

Maybe update Bf3 so i can goto my squads menu and click a button that says 'join squad chat' right next to 'join squad' , 'leave squad' and have it automatically send it's little html to the battlelog, where battlelog can automatically set up a room for the squad. Essentially...give us the battlelog chat function controls while in-game. If they think it's too much work to do that, then they shoulda just integrated VOIP in the first place instead of relying on a system that is redundant to half the players, and useless to the rest(who wish to voice chat).

That is all.

I swear. Having off server chats has killed gaming. It's even hurt Xbox Live with party chat, can't hardly find new people to play with.
I dunno about you guys, but back in 04 - 08 Xbox Live provided the best community just to meet other gamers. Then when party chat was introduced it ruined everything about Xbox (and then Xbox got no games lol).

What?!? lol

Voice chat isn't needed because no one talks?.....but no one talks because voice chat ISN'T THERE!

Was thinking about that. A III actually seems to be a bit (understatement) slower paced and the environment is practically infinite. If I can get those crazy-complex controls down I think I'll enjoy it. I'll be waiting at least a couple of weeks, to get the feel of the game through forums/you tube, then I'll decide if I'm buying or not.
