If you don't want sound leakage, I would not get the 990. I'd recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 or 250ohm paired with a Fiio E11 amp.

the akg 702's are amazing headphones with the right gear. They are very neutral/analytical with any solid state amp i've used. With a good source and a tube amp, they are often my favorite combination, plenty of bass and amazing highs.

I wouldn't use them on anything portable though, tend to be pretty power hungry, even for like a/v receivers.

After some thought, ive realised that Id prefer an open headphone. Wont be wearing em outside. I heard Grado 325 the other day in store and I was amazed at the jump in quality from my crappy earbuds. All I want now are a good pair of headphones, lossless music, a cup of freshly brewed coffee, comfortable chair and lights out smile.gif

What will you be using the headphones with OP?
Sony MDR-ZX700's
They are 120$
Best pair of headphones that I have used/tested/compared to date.

I do music production, gaming, general listening, and audio studies with these btw.

My entire music library is in 320kbps Mp3 format for both best quality and compatibility.

M50s FTW! I found them super comfortable from the get-go. I can wear them the whole day no problem (it does get a bit sweaty though if it's hot). YMMV.

I admit im not an audiophile and never really took interest in my dad's hobby but listening to Vivaldi on his hifi after going home from college and comparing it to the crappy earbuds ive been used to, I started researching and found the world of hifi headphones.

Studio Monitoring Headphones>HiFi headphones.
