DistrRTGen on AMD/ATi GPU

So DiRT have now got a OpenCL application, anyone tried running this yet?

I ran it on my 5850 and my 7950 with very different results.

Fixed points per WU = 8758

5850 @ 900 / 1000

Avg. Time = 3260s
p/s = 2.69
ppd = 232,000

A little better than Milkyway (2.27p/s), not as good as Moo! (3.4p/s) and nowhere near Donate (5.7p/s)

7950 @ 1000 / 1250

Avg. Time = 734s
p/s = 11.93
ppd = 1,030,000 <- eek.gif

In most other projects my 7950 is only a bit better than my 5850, Milkyway for example runs in 55s compared to 70s, donate takes ~12m compared to 17m. But in DiRT it just takes off. Here is one of my workunits, took 732s and was validated by a GTX580 which took 1207s.

Finally, a project which takes advantage of my new toy wheee.gif

math looks sound, there is no way to guarantee 100% card output 24/7. I've been trying to do that for a long time now.

Well my biggest problem at the moment is getting the work validated. I have over 1M points pending validation at the moment.

Hopefully I will reach a point where the work is validated at the same rate I produce it, then I can get a more accurate PPD figure. Either way it is the highest p/s project I have run. And it is for science (as opposed to bitcoin mining).

Yeah, I look around at some of the computers on DiRT and most of them have a bunch of tasks waiting to be validated. One computer had over 500 tasks pending.

I don't get it. How can everyone have tasks pending? It seems the work generators are biased towards pumping out new WUs rather than validating the current ones.

I had over 1700 pending tasks in Collatz when Pentathlon started, now it seems to be going up and down between 1500 and 1600 tasks.
post #8 of 33
Validation comes from someone else doing the task and both results match..

We are FAST here at OCN... can't help it if we outperform everybody else and they are slow to catch up...

I know, but I keep getting a bunch of "fresh" tasks sent to me when there are plenty of tasks out there waiting for validation.

At least 20 of my pending DiRT tasks have not even been assigned to another computer yet.
