Arctic Cooling on XFX HD 6950 OC?

Hello!

I have a XFX HD 6950 2gb OC. This card to be precise: http://xfxforce.com/en-us/Products/Graphics-Cards/AMD/AMD-Radeon-HD-6000-Series/AMD-Radeon-HD-6950/HD-695X-CNDC.aspx

And i wonder if any of you know wether or not the Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus 2 or Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo 2 will fit on my card? I know that they will fit on reference-cards but i don't know if I have refernce-pcb.

So i was hoping that someone has done this and can tell me if it works or if you have a picture of 6950 reference-pcb and a picture of XFXs pcb so I can compare the two. exhappysmiley.png

I don't want to remove the stockcooler until I know that it works cause i'll void the warranty. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

It should fit fine.
I use the Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo 2 since the xtreme was a tab bit expensive for the performance.
i have a sapphire 6970 with the rev 2 reference pcb and everything fit fine. I believe it is universal since it has mounting points for various gpus as well.

Its fine because it doesnt have a seperate large heatsink for the memory and vrm modules, so you dont have to worry about the pcb screw holes. It uses some thermal paste glue for you to attach the small heatsinks to them.

I am worried that it won't fit because of the marked thingys in the back of the card. 400

How du u like the Twin turbo 2? Was it hard to mount? Which kind om temps are u getting now/before? smile.gif

Oh and you mentioned thermal paste glue, did it come with that or did you have to buy it aswell?

Everything came with the twin turbo package. All need heatsinks and such. The glue is a mixture of 2 things
When your ready to put the heatsinks on the vrms and such mix it and apply to the memory vrms and then place the small sinks.

It was pretty easy to mount as all you needed to do was apply the smaller heatsinks to the memory/vrms and the main heatsink mounts through the 4 gpu holes. The marked things you mention will be fine because the Twin Turbo 2 heatsink is elevated above the capistor thing(i think thats what they are called).
I think the smaller marked one will fit with a heatsink as well that will not disturb the gpu sink(probably one of the mini sinks). I looked at mine and there should be enough space.

Tempwise. I kinda blew the fan it came with cuz i screwed up connecting it LOL. 12v =/= 5v/ fried the wire instantly. So I just slapped 2 120s at 800 rpms on there.

before 60-70 idle -> 87 ish load.
now 40ish idle -60-70 load depending on fan speeds smile.gif.

EDIT: I'll post some images after like 10PM PST or something like that because I have a project due at 9 and it's crunch time LOL

Wow, i thought it would be a lot more complicated, but thats basically what me and my friend have done to his 6970 except we put on a watercooling-block. smile.gif Thanks for all the info, now I only have one question: Is the Twin Turbo 2 also going to take up 3 slots when mounted (like the accelero)? smile.gif

EDIT: not the best images but you get the main point of them:
I'll post some in like 2 hrs. Roommates are still sleeping at 12 in the afternoon -_-. Its frigging amazing. Don't wanna turn on light and wake them up.
As for the project lol. I finished it. Computer Science is a frigging *****. 4 hrs coding just 10 lines ): fricking recursion.
