[SOLVED] How to stop a sandy bridge cpu from idling at 1600mhz? - Page 2

What is the reason you to need speed stepping turned off? I wouldn't suggest it turned off for systems that run 24/7. smile.gif

Sounds like a bum BIOS if killing all the CPU power savings does not work, try flashing to a different one

No reason to not leave it @ 1.6Ghz. Better idle temps.

Unless you need that extra 0.01% of performance 100% of the time there is nothing to gain by disabling speedstep. The frequency changes so fast it's not noticeable.

Disable it when you run benchmarks for an extra point, but for 24/7 leave it on.

What was the point of wanting it to run at full speed all the time anyway?
