7750 Black Edition only getting 3.0ghz? max vcore?

OK, so I was really pumped up about overclocking my older Athlon X2 7750 BE since I just got a new HAF 932 case and a CM V6GT heatsink. I wanted to hit 3.5 ghz. Unfortunately the chip is topping out at 3ghz. I read up on the chips and found out they really aren't great overclockers. But still, only 3.0ghz? The highest temp this thing reaches is 23C with that massive heatsink. This is all at 1.35 vcore (real world voltage of 1.33-1.34). I cannot even get the chip stable at 3.1ghz at 1.55v, then the max temp is 26C. It will boot and run OCCT for a couple minutes and then crash.

Am I doing something wrong or did I just get a dud? I tried unlocking the extra cores with ACC but to no avail. I am not really interesting in retrograding to older BIOS versions to unlock the cores so that is out. I am really disappointed that I can't even seem to get to 3.2ghz.

So, I just wanna see if I'm doing it wrong or if it's my motherboard or what. RAM tests fine in Memtest.

Specs:
Gigabyte MA-785G-UD3H
Athlon X2 7750 BE
Radeon HD 4850 stock clocks
8GB Corsair XMS2 @ stock timings and frequency 800/5-5-5-18

What is the max vcore I can reliably run this processor at? I read a few times that 65nm can take high voltages (as high as 2v?) I saw a guy get one of these stable at 3.5ghz with his memory at 2.5v or some crazy stuff like that. No way I'm doing that!!!

Id recomend not over clocking with that board its know to fail when over clocking read this

OK interesting. I don't have time to get into all the electrical engineering lingo there but it seems that the power distributor of the board is not up for it? If the board is capable of supporting 125w CPU's and mine is only drawing at most 95w, then wouldn't that lessen the load on the board's power handlers and increase my overhead? I got a solid 10-15% performance increase out of the measly 300mhz OC that I'm running now, which is not insignificant in my world. I think it's the chip that is failing, not the board. Is this the greatest overclocking board ever? no, but I don't think I am asking too much of it. I think I just have a weak CPU. thanks for the info

It's just a dual core guy.

It's just a dual core guy.

not high enough TDP even overclocked. issues arise when overclocking 4 and 6 core chips

You guys have any ideas for me besides I just have a weak die? I started with multiplier, didn't touch the FSB, I think I got to 14.5 before I had to crank the voltage up .025v, then I was good till 15. after 15x doesn't seem like any combination of voltages or multipliers get it stable. disproportionately high voltages (1.45 - 1.5+) will get me into windows with 15.5 but no good for stress tests. Now I'm thinkin I will just find a quad core deneb and ride this system out like that for a couple more years until the APUs get more mature. Man, I was really looking forward to running some solid numbers with this little chip

Yeah, if its failing at 1.5 volts i'd recommend not going any higher.

Yeah, interesting. What speed are you running your Hyper transport at?

My 5000+ will do 3.2 with far less cooling than that.

I had that exact chip and 3.2 was all I could get. I don't think I knew of anybody that got over 3.3 with it. It was a solid proc but not a great overclocker. Think 3.5 might be unreachable.

Try pushing the FSB. Maybe you have a couple bad multi's? i dunno
