Any recommendations? (hdtv for htpc)

In the process of building an HTPC and a new HDTV for our bedroom. Its a fairly dark room and we will be sitting around 15-20' from the TV.

I was thinking a 42" LCD. 1080p

Id like to be at or under $400 usd. That may limit me to an off brand and that's why I'm here.

Any one have any personal experience or recommendations?
