Nano Murum: Forget the case

Intro

Hello, This is going to be my first build that I actually commit 100% too and do a lot of modding and customization. I have built quite a few nice custom PCs but they were never elevated the level I'd always hoped, and very little actual modding was done. Also, I had never actually done a build log before. I had planned on it, but never got around to it due to time constraints and what not! That being said I'm going to change all that with this one. biggrin.gif Hopefully it will be enjoyable for everyone to see as it will be for me to do smile.gif Hopefully my long rambles and extensive text don't get annoying, but I try to type out everything in my mind, so bear with me!thumb.gif

Conceptus

For this build, I've really been looking for a case that is perfect for me, as I'm a pretty picky person I've been told and I have tried out just about every case on the market now. While some were EXTREMELY nice and really well built, I've never had a case that just felt perfect to me and that I felt would achieve the look I wanted so ultimately I decided there are only two other options: 1. Build my own case, but this takes a lot of skills and tools I don't have unfortunately, hopefully soon though. 2. Go without a case. Which is exactly what I intend to do. Until a case comes out that sweeps me off my feet, I'll be going without a case, and I want to have a computer that looks damn good doing it!

So I've decided to treat it more like a piece of art than a computer and just like you hang art, I plan to hang this computer- Right on the wall smile.gif I've seen a couple Wall mounted computers around the net, but most of them were just all the components hung to a piece of wood/plexiglass, and then mounted to the wall after the fact. I want to Individually mount each piece separately and almost make it look like they are all floating. I'm going to be using custom fabricated aluminum pieces to do this. I'm really not that great working with metal, but the only way to get better is to do it, so I figure this is a perfect way to practice.

Beyond that, I don't have a lot to show right at this moment. I have a TON of stuff in the works and planned out, but actually very little to show for it at the moment. So you're going to have to bear with me until I can start getting some content up here for you guys to enjoy. More or less just wanted to get a template up on here so I had a place to start putting updates. What I can for sure tell you is that

  • This whole project will be water cooled with at least dual loops, possibly triple loop.
  • The hardware is not really top end, and I don't plan to buy anything new and shiny in that regards, but its still a nice x58 system with 295 SLI and koolance blocks smile.gif
  • The amount of radiators going into this build is completely unnecessary
  • I'll try to make future updates a lot more interesting than this first post. since I don't have many pictures yet, text is all I have to give you guys tongue.gif

I do have a huge to-do list for this project, but I'm going to hold off posting it for just a little till I have more pictures. But for now I might as well show you my "case" or what I'll be using as one anyways

I plan to put the computer in the ballpark area of that black rectangular box. I have a lot of prep work to do to the room first though. Plan to repaint today, and do something about the awful carpet, then I have to move all my stuff back in, and then I will be updating more, but this is all for now thumb.gif

Hopefully this turns out like I'm picturing. Stay tuned!

This looks promising! I love the no plexiglass idea, cuz honestly they don't look as good as it could!

You've got alot to do to the room though! subbed and looking forward to more

Not much of an update, but over the past two days I got the room primed and painted so that is all good, so I can start focusing on getting some of the stuff up there now.

Also, the main reason I'm posting today, is I got a nice little package smile.gif Here is a teaser of the package and more to come. smile.gif
