mm!i sure wont be using their computer if they are quantum ,because in theory ,they could predict what will be done before it is announced!50 ns isnt long ,but probably long enough; to insert whatever you want info inserted!hacker must be rejoicing today!

I think I figured this out. They used government light and it moved at the speed of light, so they assumed because of bureaucracy it would actually be moving faster than the speed of light for less money if it was in the private sector.

Boffin is describing the scientists that performed the research, not the material that allowed the laser peak to travel faster than the speed of light.

That's not completely true. The problem with grand unification is that there are underlying properties to the classical theory of gravity that don't translate well under quantization. People have been coming up with theories of quantum gravity for the last 70 years, but none of them have given the first step towards a useable theory - a physical Hamiltonian. Every theory has a Hamiltonian which basically tells you (this example is for Newtonian mechanics) "if I'm at position x1 with momentum p1 then after a certain time t I will be at x2 with momentum p2". Quantum mechanics, QED, QCD, Relativity, etc all have Hamiltonians which let you actually calculate the physically relevant things you're interested in.

Back to the article though. From what I can tell all they're talking about here is the phase velocity of the photon which everyone knows can be faster than the speed of light because its not a physically meaningful quantity. Unless there is something I'm missing this is completely bogus. They also fail to mention any error in their measurements.
