Well, this all started about 1 month ago, i took my rig apart to do some dusting and re do some airflow. while doing so, i got the brilliant idea "hey why don't i mess with my GPU Cooling"
so i switched out the fan, did a reseat on the heatsink, and took of the shroud. put it all back together, and it worked....or so it seemed....after about 30 minutes of light web browsing, my monitor goes into power save mode. but the pc stays on. I try to re connect the cable to see if i knocked it loose, no avail. I decide to restart my pc, and this time, i can't even boot into bios.I can hear the fan spin up to 100% and then die, so i figure the card was bad, talked to some people at Zotac, and they agree to RMA....
1 month later...
I get my new card in the mail today, plug it in, and it works (yay), but after about 45 minutes, my monitor goes into power save mode. I restart, and same thing, 100% then dies in bios. Its def not the monitor as i had that plugged into a lappy for the month my rig was down. It seems to be some sort of short.
Things I have done recently to rig
Took EVERYTHING apart and reassembled
Flashed Bios
Tried GPU in x4 slot as opposed to x16 to try to weed out bad slot.
any suggestions?
