suspicious driver (v3.05) for Razer DeathAdder mouse

Hi everyone.

At the end of the installation of Razer DeathAdder driver I get this notification (see picture), It seems very strange (the name) and I heard in the past that Razer pages were hacked so just to be sure this isn't some kind of malware/spyware,...

g-spy.jpg

BTW can someone explain which firmware (NDC or DC) to install If I prefer polling rate:500 / dpi switcher:900Hz (I'll check the values when I get home but I think these are the ones I use).

I'm currently on some old firm (I think it's 1.7) and maybe should upgrade cos I'm having issues with my new mainboard (ASRock Ext4 Gen3).

thank you

NDC = no drift correction or something aka. no prediction
DC = prediction

The drivers fine.

You're on 3.05 you say? A 3.5G?

If so you don't have the option to use the Angle snapping (Drift Control) firmware found in the 3G models.

Ignore that, I didn't know the 3G model was up to 3.05.

hi.

I understand what it means (I think rolleyes.gif) as written at Razer site, but I don't understand which one I should use. I thought that it has something to do with speed and that's why I wrote the speed settings I use. when I play FPSs I use the same setting always, I never change polling/DPI.
I only change mouse speed in the game itself, and usually go all all the way down cos it's to fast on default.

does this "prediction" has something to do with online gaming cos I newer game online, only single player, mainly FPSs.

cheers.

Hi. It's the first DeathAdder. I think it's 1800dpi and If I remember it has 3G also written on it. I'll check and report back when I get home.

Isn't the driver for all DeathAdders the same? It's what's given to me on Razer site?
I used v3.0 on my old PC and never had any problems but now on this new board I got BSOD after first installation of the v3.0 driver then I tried v3.3 (or 3.03, not sure) and got problems with Razer control panel not showing up so I wanted to try 3.05 and got that message that seemed very suspicious.

Why would anyone call the company G-Spy these days with all the virus/spywware/malware,... floating arround LOL.

cheers.

Dunno.

@ Question:

Angle snapping (DC) will predict your movement at specific angles.
Angle snapping off (NDC) allows you to retain full unaltered control of the cursor.

This picture will illustrate.

I got a reply from Razer support regarding "G-Spy":

"It's just the signature that was created with the driver. I assure you it is not a virus or spy ware. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns."

cheers.
