AGP is a dead technology. All modern cards are made for PCI-E x16 primarily, with AGP as an afterthought. AGP can only send 1.6 MB (I think, I'll check) of info at one time, while PCI-E can send 8MBs at once.

I wouldn't invest anything in AGP, and I would definitely not call it better than PCI-E by any stretch of the imagination.

OK, found it. AGP is 2.1 GBs, PCI-E is 8 GBs. Also, you need PCI-E for SLI or Crossfire (the dual graphics card solutions) and it's almost certain that DX10 (the nest generation of graphics cards) will be PCI-E only.

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for filling out your System Specs, many people don't at first.

We shouild keep in mind thateven though the PCI-e is faster the AGP bandwidth is hardly even touched. I would go PCI-e if I had the opertunity but a performance increase will probly not be seen. IMO the greatest reasons to gp PCI-e 16x is that they are much cheaper and they are new tech.

Keep in mind new tech isn't allways best, example.. rdram. Nevertheless AGP is old and crappier than PCI-E.

This question should never exist, AGP is slow old and out dated.

Currently PCI-E cards are really no faster than 8x AGP cards, so if you're getting by with a AGP based system then stick with agp for time being. Right now only real advantage to going with PCI-E is if your gonna do a complete system upgrade, new CPU, faster mobo, ram, etc, or if you want to get in on teh whole nvidia SLI craze right now, which is all pretty impressive but isn't really worth it right now either, only for benchmark bragging rights. for example 2 PCI-E GF6600GT's actually perform slightly less than a single 6800 GT, & if you decide you want 2 6800GT's or 6800 Ultras or 7800 series, no games right no really even take advantage of that kind of power anyways, so its really just a waste of money.
