Coretemp is known for technical issues.

For example, a 960T unlocked breaks the program. My 1600T just shows 0 degrees all the time because of this.

Very buggy program.

I can say that I have seen some pretty strange things myself in coretemp.

CPUz can glitch too.  I've seen a 25ghz 980x, and I myself have had a 9.8ghz 955 BE.  So, all of these programs can be glitchy/buggy at times.

13GHz would need probably somethin like 2.0+Vcore...lol Probably liquid helium for cooling too...lol Oh maybe 20+ years from now we'll have 10+GHz processors. Who knows...

Lol I know it was a little bug but I was wondering how much a title like would make people react tongue.gif

I think AMD broke the speed record with bulldozer at a bit over 8ghz last winter, which is quite great thumb.gif

Intel people was already seeing 10ghz+ when they were developping the P4, soon they discovered it would melt the computer case before getting even close to that lol wink.gif

From Wikipedia

At the launch of the Pentium 4, Intel stated NetBurst-based processors were expected to scale to 10 GHz (which should be achieved over several fabrication process generations). However, the NetBurst microarchitecture ultimately hit a frequency ceiling far below that expectation – the fastest clocked NetBurst-based models reached a peak clock speed of 3.8 GHz. Intel had not anticipated a rapid upward scaling of transistor power leakage that began to occur as the die reached the 90 nm lithography and smaller.

The 2500K is capped at a multi of 59, and only very, very rarely can a chip hit that.  The highest clocked 2500k in the world is only at 6.0ghz.

Some benchers have come close.  The highest ones being around 8.3ghz on liquid nitrogen.
