Im not gonna read the whole thread, but did you try with a different PSU or PCIe line..? The test card that worked, did it use the same lines as the "faulty" 680..?

I certainly know that sick feeling.

the psu is pretty new still, has always had a nice grounded socket, the psu tester I have shows all green, but that isn't really reliable is it... haven't had anything break since I originally build this rig. The previous cards worked fine, and the other one of them that I sold to a friend is also still working fine.

Just for the record JTHMfreak EVGA would send him to the retailer also if it was still in a 30 day return policy. Most of the time you will get a card back right away and not have to wait. Now a 680gt most likely not in stock but its my point this is not a brand thing I have had evga send me back to the store so much fail in this thread!

I will say that EVGA's warranty, at least for anything lifetime warrantied is stellar. my condolences friend for your dead 680. thats quite alot of green to plunk down on a video card and have it fail weeks later. at least your card completely crapped out. my 570 gtx will post with the pc but every once in a great while just decides at random times to NOT display video no matter how doggedly i try. After i read your first few posts i had noticed you had already covered the possibility of it being mobo, or psu or even driver since it wont even post. sorry again bud, hope gigabyte doesnt hang you out to dry.

Btw guys, the GTX680 the box when you purchased it, is it taped closed? is it supposed to be? are there any seals by default on the gigabyte boxes?

Mine had no seals or anything, basically the box could have been opened at the shop and the guys could have been playing with it there, I recall the box appeared to me like it had been opened before as the cardboard was a little bit bent on one end, inside.

the static bag doesn't have a seal either just some neutral tape?

Edit: I didn't say anything about it since the card worked, but this seems alarming to me now.

The problem with all that is that when you suggest a clean driver install to a guy who can't get the machine to post, it is like suggesting a flu shot to someone who just took a bullet to the head.

Be happy you guys live in US where the cards cost 500 USD. Just imagine if you had to pay 550 Euros = 715.82500 U.S. dollars for the reference card, you can nearly get a 690 for that money.
