Best case for dust?

Thread Starter
So working through all the parts that I want for a new build soon and starting to think about changing my choice on cases away from HAF to something different due to dust. Dust always an issue for me and its not very fun to have to blow out my case every couple weeks in order to keep it from getting too bad so ive been doing some research and found these filters and it seems really awesome so now what I am thinking is that I dont want a case that is so open and especially with so much mesh because of all the dust opportunity. I was thinking about getting a case where the only openings were for fans and that is it, preferably a lot of fans for the best airflow possible but you can get filters to cover them all and im hoping just eliminate the dust in the case problem entirely.

Has anyone else had this aspiration as well as me and gone for something that is more of a self maintained build in order to cut out all the time and cost of blowing out our cases every 2 weeks? Curious to know about other people solutions, but mostly any ideas for cases that would do what I am aiming for, to recap I would need a case that is completely closed off with the exception of openings for fans only. So no mesh grills over optical drive bays or on the sides or top of the case as well.

Wow, two dust threads in a day!

I've had my CM 690 ii advanced for over 8 months, and I have BARELY any dust particles inside. It comes with dust filters on the bottom intake, front cover and drive bays. The only place left is the side panel.

I want a case that has HEPA filters installed and some heavy duty intake fans so that I can still have some half decent air flow - I know it would be loud, but so is my HEPA filter, and it's on anyway. I swear my PC picks up 100X as much dust as my air filter does.

I think a HEPA certified case would sell quite a lot of units, it wouldn't be cheap but neither is canned air or new components that overheat if you're super lazy and don't clean your case.

Anyway I know this isn't at all helpful, but would anyone else buy one of these HEPA cases if one were produced?

/agree i'm still waiting for someone to mod a RV02 with a hepa mount on the bottom. I think the AP181's has enough static pressure to do the job. it wouldn't be much filtering, but considering how often I leave my machine on, every bit helps my lung health smile.gif essentially, it'll be like the 540 rad mod but except you are putting a hepa filter where the 540 rad is. OR, you can do a much more complicated mod and put the hepa filter on the bottom but that'll cut into the plastic part of the chassis. either way, it'll likely be the easiest case to work with IMO.

other possibility would be a side panel mod. stick the hepa filter on the outside of the side panel, and mod the side panel to accept 4 x 140mm fans(or 180mm fans depending on the size of the side panel). the key to these mods would be finding the right sized perma hepa filter. I'm not aware of any manufacture that make custom sized hepa filters.

I've considered modding a case to do this - just wish I could buy something nicely finished without having to spend three months with my CAD drawings for a HEPA case.

Might be a fun MOTM though..... rolleyes.gif

This as well. Really can't go wrong with pure positive pressure cases.

Owned the RV02 before and built a rig inside the FT02 for a friend. Those cases really keep the dust out. And that's coming from someone who lives in a country that has dust build up on a daily basis. laugher.gif
