Three screen for FSx and BF3 - need GPU recommendation

Hi All -

I'm seeing what people are doing now with three monitors (~6000 x 1200), and I think I need to jump on the band wagon. I want to get a minimum of 50fps on high settings (before OCing). Can I do this with one card, e.g., 7870 or 680, or will I need two? I want to cram this into a small form factor case (like my Lanbox Lite) if that's possible. I will also use this for work so I'd like it to be as efficient as possible.

I'm also thinking Eyefinity is probably my best option but am open to ideas.

Thanks for the help. Assume a good MP and high end Intel CPU.

Hmm, should I post this in another thread? Thanks, g-

Going to need 2 high end cards to not dip below 50fps

Fsx is very CPU intense, so get a good CPU. As far as a gpu for 3 monitors, I would get two 680. Get the 4gb versions as running high resolutions likes a lot of vram. If you want to spend less, two 3gb 580 would probably work also. Msg me if you need further assistance.

GM is right,
I fly allot of FSX,
Its mostly CPU hungry.
I was getting 30 to 40 FPS, But when going into KLAX or big airport it would drop to 20. ( This with Addons )

Wow, great stuff, thanks. I will be getting a top of the line Intel processor so I'm hoping that will do the trick. I think two 580's might be enough as two 680's would be pretty pricey. Then again, maybe I should just get a 690. This is what I'm trying to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIIxDI3bqZ4

Any suggestions welcome. I'm hoping to fit this into my LanBox Lite, but that may not be possible. I've built a few machines previously, but this is my first really high-end machine.

Thanks again.

If your getting a new CPU, Get a 2500k or ivy 3570k, (HT doesn't do anything for FSX )
SLI doesn't either.
But for those monitors in the video IMO I'd get 680 4gb ( If you can get hold of them )
Or 580 3gb's
Are you just flying FSX with this rig?

This is very good advice. I would go with the 3570k just because Fsx is a CPU hog and the extra CPU power may help.
