I reassembled the whole PC as I said, and then recleaned and reapplied the TIM as usual, sure that was after reseating the square-shaped iron pc which surrounds the CPU, and then .... etc....

then I booted the PC, and when logged in to Windows, I noticed the temp dropped really, and that was significantly obvious with the case panel open.

after this I rebooted and entered the BIOS, and disabled Turbo, EIST, C1E, and set the CPU voltage to 0.149 = 1240 in Windows, and and the VTT to 1.2v.
that was for 160*21 and saved.

then restarted to Windows, and started running Prime95, which seemed to be stable with all core working without a single error for about half and hour.

after this, I just went to check out my brother in the other room and came back withing a minute, to see the PC was turned off, and trying to reboot but in vain...

surpriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise.... the motherboard blowed ... yes yes, I directly plugged ooff the PC cord after smelling all that nice perfume, and waited for about 10 minutes with the battery removed, and then reinserted the battery and tried to start the computer, just to make sure that the motherboard was screwed off, seeing that in my eyes, when I saw the sparkles coming from the motherboard back !!

after this, I took the PC parts apart, and looked on the back of the motherboard and found the burning marks.

good news right ??

then I looked on the CPU face and down, and didn't find any mark of damage, I hope the board didn't take the CPU with it, did it ??

I will need sometime till I get a new motherboard, especially that the stores here are out of the P55 boards, they are selling the z68 and other sandy bridge nowadays.

well, thanks for everything my friends.

it's 5:00 AM here.

ciao.

Oh NO! That's a bummer.

If you want a p55 board to hold you over until you put together a whole new rig, I listed my EVGA p55 board in the OCN marketplace today, link in my sig. It was originally $180 when I bought it, but I'm asking $75, or best offer. It's a nice board, check out my build log in sig for pics.

do motherboard usually take the CPUs with them when they buuuuuuuuuuuuuurst ??

the temp was really so nice , and didn't exceed the 72c, and this is what teased me really, I found the burn marks on the back of the board around the DrMos and power phase, I heard that the GD55 has such problems with the DrMos being not cooled enough, but now I am worried about the CPU, and there is no other motherboard to test with, but as I said before, looking at the CPU itself there was no single mark of damage either on the face or the back of the CPU.

so what do you guess ??
