Stability and Compatibility question for my coming rig

Thread Starter
I'm getting this rig and its taken me MONTHS of tweaking, forum posts and reading about different components and I think this hit the nail on the head for what I'm looking for. Seeing as there are many experts here ^^ I felt the need to do a last-minute check.

The main question. Will there be any (major or minor) stability or compatibility issues? Anything that may limit or hinder the performance of another component? Anything I can change? I'm trying to maximise bang for buck here.

Win 7 pro 64-bit
Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 4096MB GDDR5
Asus Z77 Sabertooth Intel Z77
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Asus Xonar Essence STX
Corsair Dominator 16GB (4x4GB) PC3-14900C9 1866MHz
Corsair Professional Series AX750 High Performance 750W Modular '80 Plus Gold'
Intel 520 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive
3 x 1Tb WD Caviar Black 7400rpm 64mb - RAID 0

I only listed the components that may have specifications I might have over-looked that limit each other or clash. That's the purpose of this thread biggrin.gif

I'll list the full specs/components:

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Asus Z77 Sabertooth Intel Z77 DDR3
Gainward GeForce GTX 680 Phantom 4096MB GDDR5
Corsair Dominator 16GB (4x4GB) PC3-14900C9 1866MHz
Asus Xonar Essence STX Sound Card
Corsair Professional Series AX750 High Performance 750W Modular '80 Plus Gold' PSU

Thermaltake Level 10 GT Visionary Full Tower Case - Black
Samsung S23A700D 23" 120Hz 3D Widescreen Gaming Monitor
Sennheiser PC 360 Gaming Headset

Intel 520 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive
3 x 1Tb WD Caviar Black 7400rpm 64mb - RAID 0

Corsair Vengeance K90 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Razer Nostromo Gaming Keypad
Razer Naga 5600DPI MMO Laser Gaming Mouse
Roccat Alumic Gaming Pad

I'll pick dvd and blu-ray drives locally. I'm going to be extracting alot of console game images from them and I still need to pick ones that are fast, reliable and suitable for that work.

Also a memory card reader :3

Western Digital Time Limit Error Recovery Utility - WDTLER.EXE
NOTE: the WDTLER.EXE tool is no longer available from Western Digital. WD phone support confirmed that new disks cannot have the TLER setting changed, i.e. RE disks are only suitable for RAID arrays and Caviar are only suitable for non-RAID use. WD also say that using the WDTLER.EXE tool on newer drives can damage the firmware and make the disk unusable.

What does that above mean!
It means that your raid array can be broken just because of the minor fault!
And iirc it was something like the OS and the HDD try to manage the minor fault and all hell breaks loose! And the raid array needs redoing redface.gif
But it was so long ago that I read "why not to raid WD non-RE drives"!

Do a Google for TLER (time-limited error recovery) WD drives! smile.gif

That's going to require some further research on my part isn't it? XD. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm going to bed for now, i'll check back tomorrow.

In the mean time mind suggesting a good 3 x 1Tb HDD for RAID? smile.gif

People may post and say how WD drives are fine in Raid 0!
But facts are facts redface.gif
I have two WD640 in my rig right now, but not in Raid!

I'm thinking Samsung HDDs are also popular on OCN smile.gif
