Purchasing Keyboard and Mouse

As a long time scavanger of this website of justice, I have come to the ever helpful and witty audience known as the OCN member to request assistance for a mouse/keyboard purchase I am wanting to do in the next couple of weeks.

I am a newer modder, I have built standard rigs before, and for my flagship rig, my first major build, I am doing a theme based off Asuka from NGE (nothing special, just the colors and some etching most likely).

What I want : a good mechanical keyboard with good spacing and if it has backlighting, I would prefer it to be red. (the theme of my computer will be black with red major and orange minor accents.)

Keyboards I have seen :

K90 Corsair - sexy as all hell, and I like the precision, but the backlighting is blue and the keys are inked. This presents a problem cause my keys fade rather fast.

Razer Anansi - I am currently seeking a store demo of this, but haven't found one yet. It has a great layout, not over expensive, and a multi color LED display. HOWEVER I did not like the blackwidow due to the key spacing being freaking annoying for me to type.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Or perhaps you are good at changing LEDs from a Keyboard and wouldn't mind changing the K90 to red?

As for Mouse -

M90 - but again, blue vs red. I could change my computer theme, but I already ordered a BenQ monitor that has a red accent, and the computer already has Red LED fans and such (see HAF 922) Granted that is not the case I will be using next winter, but I love the red gaming feel. That's too bad cause I wanted to take a shot at changing some of the buttons with a red/orange texture.

Razer Naga Molten/Epic - The molten seems a bit much, and at first I was turned off by the wireless Epic, but I learned the Epic has a wired capability? So I will play with that this weekend.

Again, any other recommendations? Perhaps a good LED changer?

Have at you OCN!

CM Storm (Cooler Master) has the Quickfire Pro that has red LED back lighting on certain keys but not fully backlit, and they seem to have released the Trigger with full red LED backlighting and on-board memory. So far I can't seem to find the Trigger in stores, namely Newegg and Microcenter.

Not sure if the Anansi is mechanical. A good non-mechanical gaming keyboard with red LEDs would be the MS Sidewinder X4 (or X6 with removable num-pad but lacks nkro). It's also pretty cheap.

I don't know if it is either. I am looking that up now. Thank you. I am still willing to seek other opinions as well.

Says the guy with blue motherboard and red ram =P

Just teasin'

As far as mouse, from a personal standpoint I would go with deathadder which DOES have blue LED's but you can turn them off in the driver. My top mouse picks would be G400 if you like 800 DPI or under (No LED) or Deathadder if you like 1600 DPI or over.

I actually have the xl2420t monitor with the red accents and also a CM case with RED LED's and I think my setup looks decent color wise (G400 mouse currently)

Don't mind the white headset, borrowing my friend's spare till I can hit up the store

Yeah, you cant see the MB. After all, I got it the 922 and theres a big sexy LED fan in the way tongue.gif

I am waiting for the monitor to arrive. I have a deathadder on my computer currently, but its going to my older rig once I get a new one cause my Logitech (god I loved it) MX Revolution died finally and I need a mouse for my media compy. The Logitech felt so much better than the DA but I do enjoy it if not that it just doesn't feel AS nice.

Those Shines are expensive. Are they worth it?

There's the Razer Naga Hex, I've never used it. I think it comes in green or red.

The Cyborg MMO 7 has are a coppery orange-redish design. Also haven't used this one.

lol yeah wasn't a major deal but Ive since sold off parts of that build to my brother so I'm running off of an unlocked 960T with a blue board and the red DIMMs. My HTPC/gameserver has 16 GB of 1.35v 1600 mhz blue sticks.

I'll be looking to get an ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z

nice monitor BTW too.
