HD6850 Crossfire pain

Hello!
I'm new in this forum and also my experiance with pc's are not very hight so I'll start with introducing my rig(my first build) and than with my problem!
Processor: AMD Athlon II X3 445 rena, it's overclocked to 3,6ghz with O/C genie button on my motherboard and it's cooled by Master Cooler 252 evo
Motherboard: MSI 870a Fuzion Military edition
RAM: 2x4gb Ripjaw's DDR3 1333
PSU: XFX pro850w
Hard drives: 60gb SSD (OCZ agility 2) and 500gb HDD
Graphics: MSI R6850 Cyclone editon 1gb(factory overclocked HD6850) and Sapphire HD6850 2gb crossfired.

My first problem is that I'm trying to run 3 monitors with eyefinity and I can't expand 3rd screen but after long research I found that I need active Display Port adapter which I bought but didn't recieve yet so I hope this problem will be solved! tongue.gif

Biggest problem is my crossfire setup... mad.gif
For example game like Skyrim I can run maxed out on 1920x1080 with 30-50 fps with crossfire disabled and 25-50 fps with enabled+few world parts flicker, like ice for example.... mad.gif
Old game like Race Driver GRID: 1 card = 1920x1080 maxed out 65-95FPS / 2 cards = 1280x1024(not allowed higher) maxed out 55-70FPS mad.gif
Warface: 1 Card = 1920x1080 maxed out 55-80 FPS / 2 cards = 50-70 FPS + extreme shadow flickering mad.gif

But for example Sniper Elite V2: 1 card=60-85 FPS / 2 cards=120-200 FPS maxed out (really nice) thumb.gif

So I tested both cards and both are running fine as single, and newest one (sapphire 2gb) is brand new so cards are fine!
Newest Catalist Control Center(CCC) and more or less everything is updated, also fresh install of Windows 7 (64bit)

Anybody got any clue where is a problem or is happening here?

I appreciate any help and I'm sorry for new post coz there is many posts for corssfire problems but I'm tired for searching coz all I find is 2009 posts...

Thanks in advance!

did you also download and install the xfire additional software for ccc? 12.4 cap1 being the latest

also your new card has 2gb of ram which is preferred for eyefinity setups...because your old card only has 1gb your system will only run with 1gb

some older games may not work well with xfire or eyefinity....

Thx for reply!
Yes I have cat1 as well!
But for example I can find bunch of GRID xfire vids with nice performance! And Skyrim is 2012, Warface as well. Eh, I'm afraid I have chosen wrong way to go... With my motherboard(AM3 socket) so I can't upgrade 8core cpus, and both graphic cards... for that money I could get single gtx590 biggrin.gif

Good to know! At moment my main card is MSI coz clock ir faster! THX

you are correct on not being able to upgrade to 8 core cpu...but i don't think thats your problem..the cpu you have should be enough to run your current gpu setup....so there is another problem somewhere that needs to be tracked down...the performance you see in the one game mentioned is what you should be able to expect from the others....check to make sure your running in full screen mode on games that are not working well..xfire only works in full screen mode...

by the way...welcome to OCN thumb.gif

i just caught what you mentioned about main card being clocked faster...your gpu's when xfired will only run as fast as slowest card...you may want to clock your slower card up to match your new card for a bit more perfomance...but again this is not the main problem...i'm hoping it's the windowed mode holding you back smile.gif

I'm running full screen all games ninja.gif

I didn't know that! Thanks! CCC doesn't allow me to overclock second card that hight (MSI is running 860 as default but sapphire clock's up to 850 only tongue.gif) but that's okey... not main problem. Should I swap my cards or just pluging monitor in second should do it? boths pci-e slots should run 16x

Cheers!

keep monitor plugged into primary card....that small diff in clocks probably not enough to worry about...even when running your eyefinity setup all will run off of primary card....just need to figure out why xfire isin't executing on the other games....doh.gif...thinking

lets do this to see if xfire is working Right click on the catalyst icon on the taskbar on the lower right. Go to the primary graphics card, the first one in list, then crossfirex settings. There should be an option that says "Show CrossfireX Status Icon (where applicable)".check it...you should now see a crossfire logo in upper right corner of screen in games...check games to see if it is or is not working

What is wierd: When I right click on ccc icon I see 3 HD6800 Series cards biggrin.gif could it couse any problems? or its normal?
Cheers

edit: oh that's probably because I have 3 monitors connected! I can choose extend desktop on other 2.

go to your 3d application settings in ccc and set all to default then make sure vsync is disabled in games it will limit your fps to whatever your monitor is capable of...since i see your hitting 50 to 60 fps in most games that may be why your not seeing more....you may experience whats called video tearing with vsync disabled...it's kind of a smearing effect...
