So basically they're going to jack up the price of XBL to pay for the console. I'm not okay with that. Even though I don't even play my Xbox anymore.

On a side note, back when I was a GM off Funco and Babbages you would be shocked how many uneducated kids would think the "cheaper" system on the shelf would be the one that sucks. "it is cheaper becasue it sucks thats why it's on sale" so many kids would say.

I barely play mine, really into consoles to play with friends, and a few other reasons, but I'd still rather pay the lump sum up front, versus having money squeezed out of me over [more]time...

Things like this make me more curious as to what hardware the companies expect to use, and what price points will be "suggested".

Hmm I still would buy used if I wanted one that bad. I bought my PS3 on here for $150 shipped and I play games on it but doing a contract for a console is a little crazy. I know I would not buy one with a contract. I really hope that Sony does not go this route I would be so sad if they did.

You guys realize this would just be a subsidized price in return for signing a contract? They jack up the price of their online service to, say, 150/yr and lock you in for, say, 2 years. So the console really costs 400 dollars.
