The only time I would ever buy a console now is if they force every game to be mandatory 1080p with at least 4xMSAA or FXAA equivalent.

It's not the same thing though. If I buy something for cheap on Steam, I'm just buying the game cheap. I don't care about selling back as much as I care about buying cheap.

If there aren't any used console games, the price will stay high for any console game. Plus, the quality isn't worth the price tag in most cases. I can get games that look better on my PC for less than I can get games that look inferior on a console (for more). Consoles can't match a PC in visual quality, so why would I want to pay more for their games?

So $99 up front with a 2yr subscription that far exceeds the $399 or $499 one-time cost you WOULD have paid...nah I'm good. Then you'll probably have to CONTINUE the subscription to continue playing, similar to phones now.

Along with the subscription would come additional rules too, like no used games.

Gotta disagree with you. The used market came about because games never budged in price. They used to stay at launch price for 1-2 yrs on console. Meanwhile the steam sales would start as early as after the 1st month. Plus, there are other Digital Distributors that are even lower than steam is
