Perhaps if you're saying Ultra with no AA and no AO, on the Metro map ... that's sounds about right.
But Caspian on Ultra with 4xAA and HBAO ... you need a 680 to pull 70fps average.
I mean the 480 is still a great card, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of games out it can't totally max out (with at least 4xAA and HBAO on) and not drop below 45fps at 1080p (which many of us consider our minimum playable framerate). Metro, Crysis 2, Witcher 2, Just Cause 2, Arma2, Stalker Clear Sky, BF3, AvP ... to name a few.
It'll certainly 'handle' any game at max or near max settings though, to be sure
Also, considering I can't recall a major release that was OpenGL since Prey in 2005 ... I hardly see how the 'new' 480's could be 'much better' than the original one's that came out

Not necessarily lower the 7870 prices until the 660 comes out into the market and only if the 660 competes on par with the 7870. But who knows its really all speculation anyway.

The 670 won't cause a shift in 7870 pricing, but the 660 probably will.
