Personally I like the hot air exhaust being blown out the rear air flow bracket rather than being dumped in my case raising ambient CPU temps.
As for noise, here is the MSI Twin Frozr III 7870 (45db) being compared to fan noise of reference GTX680 (43db) full throttle the TwinFrozr is louder. Not by much but not something you'd base a reason to buy the TFII over fan noise which is negligible.

Yeah these 600 series Kepler are much quieter than previous 500 series and changed what we knew of FERMI drastically.

Hmm that's interesting, maybe I should rethink my anti blower bias. Thanks for that.

The new 480's that are OpenGL 4.1/4.2 are much better then the initial release.

Perhaps if you're saying Ultra with no AA and no AO, on the Metro map ... that's sounds about right.

But Caspian on Ultra with 4xAA and HBAO ... you need a 680 to pull 70fps average.

I mean the 480 is still a great card, don't get me wrong, but there's a lot of games out it can't totally max out (with at least 4xAA and HBAO on) and not drop below 45fps at 1080p (which many of us consider our minimum playable framerate). Metro, Crysis 2, Witcher 2, Just Cause 2, Arma2, Stalker Clear Sky, BF3, AvP ... to name a few.

It'll certainly 'handle' any game at max or near max settings though, to be sure thumb.gif

Also, considering I can't recall a major release that was OpenGL since Prey in 2005 ... I hardly see how the 'new' 480's could be 'much better' than the original one's that came out headscratch.gif

Oh, and hai BtF wave2.gif

Just look at it lol its the signature edition. Go to evga and check the difference between the normal 680 and the signature.

Do you think the 670 might cause 7870 prices to lower? Because if AMD lowers the price of the 7950, it might get a little too close to the 7870, so they might have to end up lowering the price of that, as well.

Not necessarily lower the 7870 prices until the 660 comes out into the market and only if the 660 competes on par with the 7870. But who knows its really all speculation anyway.

The 670 won't cause a shift in 7870 pricing, but the 660 probably will.
