Build for a church. Need a little help choosing parts.

Hey overclock.net, I haven't built a computer in over a year and I'm a little lost on price/performance of parts right now. My friend asked me to build a computer for his church. It will be connected to two projectors.

The current computer in use right now is a Pentium 4 with 2gb DDR @ 400Mhz.

The case needs to be pretty small too. It will also need to run as cool as possible because it will be in a tight space.

Can you guys help me?

Edit: Also, I don't mind Intel. I'm sure AMD will do just fine though.

I build a computer for my church the other day and here is what I went with:

SB 2600 i7
Asus H67
Crucial M4 128GB
1TB Seagate .12
Corsair 400W
XFX 6770 5x display card
12GB of Gskill ram.

This is OVERKILL.

The XFX card was never used as the motherboard can output 2+ displays. However I would look if you can connect your projectors through a network.

If I were to do it again I'd get what ever cheapo free motherboard comes with a 100$ AMD processor at microcenter. Then I'd grab the M4 128Gb SSD and a reliable power supply like the corsair and call it a day. If you want/need the 5x display card then yeah get it or buy mine lol. If you can network the projectors, by all means.

We use EasyWorship to present and audacity to record. We went overkill to include video recording/streaming in the future. However, things change and they keep saying they want to record video all the time but never do.

I would make the system modular so you can add stuff in the future to suit needs.

Note, Id look into a sound card that can buffer out any noise coming in from the system.

IMO, i'd go with a 400W goog PSU, a i3 or a cheap Phenom CPU and a 320GB HDD.
I would only get the GPU if you want the 5x Displays.

Throw in a couple of fans, and ill doubt youll see any overheating smile.gif

Yeah that's a good processor, but I'm thinking for you needs something built around these two. (Cheap yet more than sufficient for what you need.)
