Hey guys.

So atm i've got my sapphire dirt3 6950 in my system, and have sold the reference I bought at release to a friend. I have 2 options:

For $130 Trade him for the reference and watercool + OC it to hell

For $450 Sell him my 6950, buy a 7970 and watercool it

For $630 Sell him my 6950, buy a GTX 680 and watercool it

Now I mainly play TF2, Counterstrike Source, Dota2, and will play CS:GO when it drops. I 'sometimes' play BF3, and a few others.

What are your thoughts? biggrin.gif

Since your in Australia, I would say sell your 6950 and buy a 670 tongue.gif. I would not pay 630$ for a 680 redface.gif

Then I guess you wouldn't like to hear they're actually $700 and $130 a block wink.gif that's taking into the money I get from selling my 6950.

Definitely not. Refrain from cooling and get yourself a nice 670 :-) if you get extra cash, you could possibly go for 680. It'll be a really nice upgrade for you! Or if you want to stick to ATI get a 7900 series.

Why would you need to watercool a 680??

Anyways, that 130 to get the reference card back, that includes the block right? Hmm, it doesn't make sense fiscally to watercool anything when or if the 670 turns out to be the real deal, just get that and run it on air.

I have two of those dirt3 ed and I brough 2 swiftech mcw82 ( not installed yet), They also sell a full coverage heatsink to go on top of the block to cool ram and vr if your card is reference.. We know the dirt ed is not reference but if your next card is you can just add those heatsink for cheap.

I had to make the same choice as you but in my case 2 6950 is not enough power so I will change in the incoming month. so the mcw82 was the best cost effective choice for me.

Its also a full coverage water block VS universal option... as for me full coverage look cool but not cost effective when you upgrade and I dont need those vrm+mem heat added to the loop.

I dont know your budget for your water cooling setup but if the 6950 do the job , just put that extra money in the loop. Buying wc stuff outside US or shipping it cost a lot you will need all that extra cash.

The dirt 3 Ed is not a bad 6950 far from it, easy unlock, decent OC and pretty good fan. Trading for a refecenre for 130$ .. sorry but your friend is a thief, for 130 $ you get nothing except that a full coverage will fit ... OC will be around the same or so minimal that you will not notice it much.

I plan on watercooling my SLi 480's in my Intel build pretty soon, but that is my main rig.

I was on your other thread earlier and were under the impression you were getting a 7970, though...

If you are planning to upgrade, I would put off the watercooling. I do not plan or need to upgrade my SLi setup, not for awhile anyways.

Do any of those games warrant a better card? I have a 6950 as well and it plays everything top notch, including BF3.

Ok, everyone seems to really not get it here.

I'm selling my card for $200; if I buy a new card.
Otherwise, I'm buying a waterblock for the 6950. That's where the $130 is coming from. I'm not paying to swap it, i'm not an idiot haha!
