Asrock motherboards' dehumidfier function

I come across this interesting feature of 'dehumidfier' of some of Asrock's Z77 motherboards (eg Z77 Pro4-M).

171

I read through the User Manual but it does not say a word of this feature.

Does anyone know how it works and in what situation does this feature bring a practical benefit?
My speculation is that when the system goes into S4/S5 state, a little current is passed through the motherboard to keep it warm enough to prevent potential condensation forming on the mobo surface. But this is more like a 'passive' method rather than actually dehumidifying the air actively.

Or, perhaps this is just a big gimmick?

Haha yeah, I saw this in the newest bios update (Z77E-ITX). Needless to say, I stick with S3 so this will never run for me, but I agree with your speculation. No idea whether it's a gimmick or not tongue.gif
