And why would you buy an AX 850 for a 690?... since you're here asking question you might as well listen to those that took some time to help you.... cause honestly, you're not helping yourself wink.gif

I was just going to say this. I sure hope he's planning on going quad SLI with that unit, otherwise just wasting money.

PSU in fan side down to the bottom of the case, particularly if you have hardwood flooring or some other decent clearance to let air in the bottom of the case. I recommend any >650W PSU and check your warranty carefully smile.gif

Guys i do appreciate all your help and i did listen, Over the summer i want to mod the PC with the money i saved up. I plan to go fully water cooled and do some serious overclocking. I was going to go for 1000W but as you said there was no point! =]

You could do water cooling with a single GTX690 just fine with your system and a 600w PSU of good quality honestly. I'm merely trying to help you save some money.....that money saved can put you that much closer to your water cooling.

I'm not one to skimp out on a PSU, but I'm also not one to recommend blowing unnecessary money on something that's completely overkill and not needed.

OK if i can get get the retailer to replace it, is this a good choice?

I wan this because of the silent profile mode where the fan is off when the load if below 20%, i got serious issues with PC noise!!!

The AX850 would be a good choice, more of a side upgrade compared to the HX850. You should contact the vendor ie Corsair directly in which they will get you a replacement since the HX850 is still avail.

The 690 would run perfectly fine on a 650W PSU(at any clocks you can squeeze out of it on air or water). smile.gif

That being said, you should have still pursue the issue out of principle alone... I've dealt with both scan and ebuyer and never had an issue... if you let them get away with such stuff you only encourage them... and despite what some previous posters have suggested, you did the right thing addressing the retailer... in EU(unlike NA) the distributors and importers play a far more important role than the manufacturers, you always approach them first because it's generally the fastest/cheapest way of solving your issue... but unlike manufacturers, distributors/importers don't care about bad press and they'll try to screw you with each occasion...
Direct RMA from EU generally means accepting one way shipping costs to NA or Taiwan(that's ~50$ for a PSU), so a direct RMA is rarely cheap if you're in Europe.... of course there are exceptions to this, manufacturers headquartered in EU or with offices in EU(Antec, BeQuiet!, Huntkey, etc)... so next time you might want to pick a different one if you plan on avoiding the retailer when issues occur.

You actually right, i feel a fighting spirit xD Because that power supply has a 7 Year warranty.

But on the other hard I got an exam tomorrow and other final year exams all next week I really can't afford to worry about this now
