Is my Core i7-950 bottlenecking Arma2: DayZ mod? Or is it my GTX 470?

Just got it yesterday since I've been getting hyped on Day-Z which is an incredible mod.

However, my Framerate is not as great as it could be, and I'm wondering which I need to upgrade first?

Can anyone tell me from experience what the actual problem with my computer is?

Running at 1920x1080p, Very High.

I also have 12 gb of corsair vengeance ram.

Thanks guys.

a single 470 won't bottleneck a 950.........also it'll be nice if you could fill in your rig specs thumb.gif

running the mod on my sig rig
Cpu is at 4.1 ghz btw

The game runs great with everything maxed out at 1920 X 1080.

I would post the rest of your rig and check drivers maybe?

Rig Specs (To the best of my knowledge)

CPU: Core i7-950
GPU: EVGA GTX 470
Cooler: Corsair H100
Ram: 12GB Corsair Vengeance
MOBO: EVGA SLI3 131-xxx-xxxx
Case: Corsair 600T
HDD: Seagate Barracude 1TB
PSU: Corsair 750w

I don't think an i7-950 will bottleneck a 470 either, but at the same time I don't know how much of a limitation the i7-950 will be if I was to upgrade to a 680 in ARMA 2.

Thanks for the input guys.

ive heard arma 2 CO doesnt really like Hyper-Threading from the i7 CPUs. you might have to do -cpucount=4 in steam launch options/game shortcut,or disable HT in BIOS.
u can also do a bit of config tweaking,go to my documents -> arma 2 -> open arma2OA.cfg with notepad, edit FSAA=2(i actually forget which value is equivalent to normal in-game,or u could just set it in the game video settings) , AToC=0 .
this game supports FXAA,u can use it alone or with the FSAA from the game. To enable it,set FXAA=17 which is the highest quality,or refer to http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg for lower values

after all this u should be able to play with gd fps.

arma 2 is not going to benefit much from a 680. you need to overclock your cpu as much as you can for decent arma performance. a 470 is more than enough. the game is cpu dependent.

Six-core processors do exceptionally well in ARMA along with GTA IV. Those games are very hard on the CPU.
