[EVGA] Sneak peek of the 680 classy - Page 10

Sucks it has the dual 8 pin my 1500w only has four 8pin/6pin pci-e cables so much for tri-sil, 680 ftw 4gb uses a 8pin/6pin pci-e just need the waterblocks.

Sorry if this is a dumb idea, don't know a ton about PSUs. But couldn't you just use the four 8-pin ones for two of the 680 Classifieds and then use a couple 'dual-6-pin to 8-pin' cables for the 3rd 680?

Am I the only one who thinks needing a gaudy fire-engine red hand held device wired up to your GPU just to get proper overclocking is a bit silly?

The best our competitors can offer is a warranty voiding hardmod only possible if you have a specific motherboard and GPU. EVBot works with all kinds of EVGA hardware configurations, and since it communicates directly with components' BIOS it allows you to bypass limitations of software overclocking. And it doesn't require hardmods.

Or, you need either to own an evga board or know someone that does in order to flash the evbot to work with the 680 classifieds.

That is unless evga is going to be shipping out new evbots that work with them out of the box

And why precisely can't we just use software voltage and frequency control like every other GPU ever?

Perhaps there's something about these keplar cards I'm uninformed about that somehow prevents this, but even then, is this really the most elegant solution anyone is able to come up with? Heck, put a USB port on the back of the card and plug it into the rig. No need for a $100 ugly bulky awkward device imho.

You're forgetting that this card is meant for extreme overclockers who will probably be using LN2 to achieve record overclocks. Their target market doesn't really care what it looks like or what you need to get it working. These cards are going onto test benches right away anyways, so the connection on the side of the card (which will be facing upwards) is easier to connect to than a connection at the back of the card. EVBot is probably easier than having to flash a new BIOS as well, which just makes it even easier.

LOL their target market is LN2 benchmarkers? Thats the funniest thing I've ever heard. If you say so.
