I wouldn't say Antec has cornered the market, but they have made a lot of effort in that area, particularly in the moderate cost range. Lian Li has some excellent cases but they do generally cost more than Antec. Check out SPCR's site for their comments, guides and reviews. Even if you don't go with one of their recommendations you will learn what to look for regards noise or the lack thereof.

The other side of the coin is the quieter the components to begin with, the less the case has to deal with. Most noise comes from fans, get quiet fans and you will have a quiet rig. The other big contributor is drive noise. Some drives are quieter than others, Samsung's Spinpoints are recommended for their lack of noise. Using resilient mounts, making sure the drives aren't exposed, providing baffling around them are all effective strategies for combatting drive noise. Opticals are difficult, unless you accept a door, but that door doesn't have to cover the front panel or control buttons.

Additionally, placement of the rig can make a big difference in how you perceive the noise it makes. Having a 'backboard' that absorbs and disperses sound energy can significantly reduce the noise. Same with providing resilient feet or mounts so any vibrations aren't transmitted into shelving or other furniture. Facing intakes and exhausts away from where you usually sit can even make a difference.

I have both the P180 and the Nine Hundred. I like them both very much.

---On the P180, I agree about the door with you guys, it's not my favorite thing. I actually took it off, then ended up putting it back on. It is a very quiet case though, that's part of why I love it so much, and the front door actually is part (not all) of what makes it quiet. Cable management is more of a pain with this case than with most. All in all I really like it, high build quality, very quiet, modular design. Simple yet nice looking for those who don't like flashy rigs.

---The Nine Hundres is also a sweet case and unlike p180, has a side window. It's not as quiet (or as big) as the P180, but for me it's still pretty silent. Reason is, I set all the fans to LOW, and the result is that my raptors are by far the loudest thing in the case when they're working. That's one thing I liked better about the P180 honestly, I could barely hear my raptor drives--- on the nine hundred with the open-air front design, I hear them crunching away while they work. Anyway I let it dual core fold and gamed for a couple hours, then pulled the side off and checked everything. Hard drives, ram, vid, south and north bridges, and cpu sink (the only fan on med.-big typhoon on antec ledtricool) were all just fine, even with all the case fans on low, barely warm to the touch . The northbridge sink was the hottest thing, and even that was only warm. Basically, you can set all the fans on low, and the cooling capabilities of this case are still outstanding!!

But ya, if you don't add a side fan (IMO not needed if you keep the upper chassis fan on the front), and run them all on low, it's a pretty quiet case. The huge fan on top (I forget, it's 200 or 220mm) is pretty cool I like it and is very quiet on low. I also like how the usb/firewire/audio connectors are on the top. Along with a handy little tray to set your headphones, gum, or whatever. The versatility of the Nine hundred is also amazing. The combinations of hdd's, cd/dvd drives, to have fans or not and where, is very customizable. If you make use of the big tie strap deals on the inside, cable management is a piece of cake compared to the P180. Either case is excellent and won't let you down .
