Slight hijack - but relevant. Is there an easy solution to cross browser compatibility?

I remember this is why I lost interest in HTML before.

Thats what I meant I tested your code in IE and it didn't work but don't worry it never does unless your willing too add hacks all over the place too fix it tongue.gif

I'm building a portfolio site at the moment and trying too build it as HTML 5 & CSS 3 for the first time but then I'm just going too add a script too just display an older CSS file for IE users and a different CSS for mobile users.

Don't worry about the hijack lol.

Well, yes, sort of. FF, Google Chrome and I think Safari all use Webkit.. so things should all be the same although there are some slight bugs here and there

And someone released JavaScript patches to force the websites to work on IE6,7,8. If you need them let me know and I will try and find them.. thumb.gif

Yeah this is a good alternative, if Java isn't disabled of course, but then again most sites would break and fail without java, i.e you couldnt hit that buy/add to basket button on most shopping site, use that search function on ebay etc so it's safe too say java's probably going too be enabled by most users just too use the internet.

That, I did not know.

I remember being able to code for everything but IE, and making it work in IE was so much of a pain that I had already gotten enough pleasure from coding it correctly once. And I wouldn't let myself publish something that would be broken in a major browser, so I just said oh well, HTML is pretty cool.

This is enough to wet my appetite to go check it out circa 2012

Works fine in IE9.

Oh and Daily Mail rolleyes.gif. tongue.gif

I don't know why, but I never really had much interest in coding webpages. But this actually looks cool and I may want to get into it from now on. wink.gif

I know.. basically my granny reads it everyday, and my mum... so you know I suppose I picked it up from there.

If you go on and code some web pages... I will be very happy.

For the Web 2.0 colors, I use this site: http://modernl.com/article/web-2.0-colour-palette

I didn't realise there was a preferred standard of colour schemes for webpages.

Nah, she reads a paper copy, lol.

There really isn't but these colors represent the "new web." Web 2.0 as in social interactions (fb, myspace, G+, orkut etc), dynamically generated pages, cool CSS tricks and great color schemes. It's kind of an unofficial new web built with great technologies.
