Intel i7 Overheating in SLI

Thread Starter
OK, so this is my first attempt at "building" a gaming rig myself. Initially, I started out at Cyberpower and had a system designed about a year ago. So now in the past few days I've dropped significantly more upgrades into it on my own accord.

My system runs cool running a single GPU. But once SLI is enabled, I can get about halfway through a Mark11 benchmark or about 20 minutes in BF3 and my CPU is hitting 72C and I back out.

So as of now these are my core system components:
IN WIN Dragon Rider / Case Specs

These are my temps at Idle load working on this post:
412

These are pics of how my case is setup as of now:
379
I did some research and found that Asatek recommends their LC be configured into a push/pull intake system http://www.asetek.com/blog/229.html?start=2
446

All other fans on the case can be seen by clicking the In Wind dragon Rider / case specs link near the top of this post.

The 50mm assist fan should be in tomorrow for the mobo. From forums regarding the Sabertooth P67 that single fan can lower the temp 5 - 10C, but even in the base case scenario, I still would like to see this thing run cooler than it is.

I know these arn't flattering pictures but its the best I could do to highlight current cooling environment.

Also note that none of the case sides are close to a wall to prevent air flow.

72c isn't too terribly high for a closed loop, to be honest. But if you want to try keeping things cooler, see if you can't tilt that blue fan on the bottom 45 degrees so it faces upward. If it's not enough, try putting your radiator up top. Right now you're blowing hot air right back onto the hoses and block of your closed loop, feeding heat back into the system that is supposed to be dissipating it.

Also: Cable management. Air can't flow through jungle vines.

I'm just a shmoe though, take this with a grain of salt.

Edit: Wait, you don't have an overclock on this?

This. See what happens when you change the back to exhaust rather than intake.

I'll give that a try. And no, none of it is OC. Still working on cable management. Out of zip ties at the moment. So what about the recommended setup from Asetek on their LC? It needs to be a standard, intake front outtake back setup?

If that is your temp at stock, I'd suggest re-seating your waterblock. They are finicky at best to install. If you haven't applied enough torque, your temps will suffer.

A 26k at stock in prime with your cooling should not exceed low 50's max.

Over my head. Got the idea of what your suggesting, just unsure of how to go about it at the moment. Will have to do some research on it. I ordered this system from Cyberpower and they built it and shipped it. The ONLY things i know how to do are the changes I made to their initial setup, which was adding a new PSU, GPU and SSD.

From Asetek: "Asetek recommends mounting our coolers in an intake configuration to achieve maximum cooling performance. This ensures that the coolest air is moving through the radiator." http://www.asetek.com/blog/229.html?start=2
