i think u r ok. the cpu could heat up fast, but ur mobo will turn it off when it reach i think around 90c for most mobo bios.(not sure for urs).
so do what (JustaNormalGeek) said, n see if it turn on just fine, if it does, than ur cpu r ok, n everything els.
and if ur cpu it's fried, than all ur fans will be working n harddrivers ur mobo willl turn on just fine, but u will not get any beep sound of ay signal to ur monitor.

good luck Bro~~~~

Uuugh frown.gif I just had it on for a few minutes....and was just within bios. Didn't know it heats up that much with 0 load! Meh, I'm prepared to shell out $250 for a new cpu -_-

I'll wait until Friday when I get my h80 and then try it out, hopefully there's no lasting damage...i wanted to OC it too!

You might be OK..How is it you have no heatsink?????
Not even the stock one?Where'd you get an OEM 3570K???
Stick the stock heatsink on and see if it works

It should be fine don't do it again though. But you probably could do that 10 times without a problem. When I fix laptops or Desktop people have these same problems all the time when there heat sink fan is broken they yet it shut down literally 50 times like this before they have me look at it I replace the fan everything is working perfect again. Its hard to break a CPU.

dont make us wait till friday. put the stock heat sink on and let us know how it goes thumb.gif i bet you are fine.

on my first build, i incorrectly installed my heatsink and my computer kept shutting down a few minutes into installing windows. i finally went into BIOS and saw my chip temps and figured it out. it was constantly shutting itself down due to heat. so if i did it multiple times, im sure you will be fine with just once.

You didn't ruin your CPU. Intels are exceptionally good with their thermal throttling.

The other error code you see is likely because you don't have a fan plugged into the "CPU Fan" header on the motherboard--it's common for a lot of boards to monitor this for fan presence, and sometimes not even allow you to power on the board if it does not detect a fan present.
