PxE is cool because the operating system is located on a SAN, and if something happens (like a virus, or something) you can completely restore the OS in a seconds, and not have to mess with the infected computer much.

Ouh now this is pretty cool. From what I understand, your kernel is stored on the server, and then all the PXE clients send a DHCP request to the PXE server for the kernel when they boot, and the server then ships the kernel over through TFTP?

A couple questions:
How does this system work in terms of incorporating local storage and such? For example, would you load the kernel into the RAM from the PXE server and then mount a local hard drive for document/program storage?
Can you boot from your PXE server remotely? Or would the (relatively) slow speed of the internet make this impossible?

You don't incorporate local storage. PxE wants nothing to do with data on the hosting machine in I'd go as far as to say 90% of the time.
You typically use PxE to load into programs without an os, or linux based programs usually.
