Basically all the australians stores have listed it as in stock amd ready to ship, those who went in to pick it up are already playing BF3 at a higher fps than 7970 oced tongue.gif

Not available at Newegg, Amazon, NCIX (US or CA), Buy, Dell, or TigerDirect. No TigerDirect does not have them they are doing a presale sale thing.

At this point I think you are just a troll.

Lol which one of them are australian stores??? Did u even read my post or can u not read?? :S

Amazon has them in stock now. Give the other sites some time to update their site geez. It hasnt even been 2 hours since launch and you are going on about lack of availability lmao

On outright performance, I feel like they don't bother to even look at the numbers. This is what AMD needs to do, slap this graph on their homepage and tell people "hey, are you really that stupid? You're going to spend $490 on a 4GB 670 over a 3GB 7970 to get WORSE performance at high resolutions?!?". A similar statement warning people the idiocy of 680 4GB's for $600 ought be posted as well. This is stock, at 925mhz. The 7970 1ghz will certainly beat the 680 4GB for all but the most insanely high resolutions.
And one note (to all the newbies).. 2560x1600 doesn't touch near 2GB of VRAM - there are countless benches of 580 1.5GB vs 580 3GB which show just as much.
Edit: Abridged image; cut out all the low-end GPUs. Link to original can be found here: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

This. I've been one to view the reviews when I built my computer after finishing college last year, but looking back... while it was good for comparative performance, seeing these reviews make me a bit irked. Actual performance of 7970s are actually comparably with the 680s when overclocked, but since the reviews test stock performance, people don't see that and have a false perception of relative performance.

The wise buyers will compare overclocking performance, but no review site has done that yet.

my next card is probably going to be a gk110, but not for the reason being that it's faster from the reviews.

You realize, at your resolution (3x 2560x1440 I'm guessing from sig), you might need more than 2GB of VRAM. So you'd either go with 670 4GB or 680 4GB. I already put up some links, aggregate performance the 7970 is faster than the 670 at 2560x1600, and that's not hitting close to 2GB of VRAM. Spending $590 per 680 4GB doesn't make sense either; extra $360 when the 7970 is only 2% behind the 680 at 2560x1600, and it probably ties/beats the 680 at higher resolutions. This is before factoring in 7970's higher OC headroom. But your choice.

You could say the same thing about the AMD launching their entire desktop generation before Nvidia came to market. Things are just evening up now.

Why should I care what happened 5 months ago,. What matters is the next 5-6 months. Especially if you want to buy a card.
