On a web site like this where we all pretty much overclock to the max I think the 7970 is the much better buy as when both are overclocked to the highest the 7970 pulls a head.

And when water cooling the 7970 is the only option, turn the voltage up to 1.3v and watch those 1.3Ghz+ clocks biggrin.gif

Still playing that card?

Show me concrete proof of that?

People saying drop the 7950 to $320 make me giggle.

That's just poor. The stock GTX680 is a beast and out performs a HD7970 using much less power and does it on lesser memory. The GTX680 takes the lead here, really, and OCing the hell out of it gives HD7970 owners some comfort but I wouldn't dream of suggesting it anymore.

It's been shown on many many web sites that when both cards are run at 1Ghz cores speed they're pretty much in margin of error of each other ( hence why AMD are bumping the 7970 clock up to 1Ghz )

And seeing as the 7970 overclocks much much better it does pull ahead when overclocking is concerned.

I do not keep my GPU at stock clock, I push them as far as I can so the 7970 would be the better choice for me.

And if you think overclocking to the max is 'poor' I suggest you go and join another forum rolleyes.gif

anyone buying a graphic card right now is going to cry in a few months when GK110 lands...unless it gets delayed past September-October range.
