Not really, but if you do a "blind swap" from a GTX 680 to a 7970 or a GTX 670 to a 7950, I bet you wouldn't even notice the difference unless you looked at the driver controls. That's how close the cards are right now.

Numbers only tell half the story.

And no, MMO != popular. What completely flawed logic.

AMD you mad bro? Nvidia just beat you in your own pricing game while still beating your performance. Must be hard for a CEO.

AMD had the sales monopoly for almost 4-5 months. Thats why Nvidia didnt release their card right away. Their 680 were weaker than the 7970. So they went back to the draw table. To release their new GTX 680, and the old were stocked as GTX 670.

AMD are not crazy, they know the market, they will do something with their price. And at the end, AMD will have made a lot more profits than Nvidia.

I want a GTX 680 4GB so bad but can't find any...so, like other consumers, I'm more looking into the AMD now.

4-5 months? They released in early January... Nvidia released in late march. That's just under 3 months, not 4-5. Also, in order to have a "monopoly," AMD would have needed to release all of their cards before Nvidia did. So AMD had a "monopoly" for about a week. Really not seeing how you got the 4-5 month thing. If you're talking about 680 availability, the cards are still selling, Nvidia just can't keep up at the moment.

Nvidia didn't go back to the drawing table on the 680. That's not how things work. Even if they did, you wouldn't be able to prove it.

Stop spewing the same crap over and over again. You cherrypick graphs to your own benefit which is why I don`t listen to you. Maybe get out of your AMD biased box and actually read various reviews and make a new conclusion

My god you AMD people are really too stubborn to admit defeat. Even if the proof is right in front of your freakin eyes you still find excuses.
Im out

Excuse me?

Defeat entails that the cards are outclassed in every way. Sorry, but that's simply not the case.

The 3GB frame buffer and 384-bit bus yield better performance in some games when the resolution is increased. It's also been proven that in most newer titles, AMD's minimum framerate on the 7950/7970 is significantly higher than Nvidia's 670/680 (see BF3 benchmarks.) AMD is also winning on compute performance, where the 670 and 680 struggle.

What I find really interesting about this situation is that when nvidia puts out a card with better compute performance and higher minimum framerates (see Fermi), everyone jumps for joy! When AMD does the exact same thing, nvidia guys cry foul and allude to the "average" framerate and gaming performance as the sole metric for showing how good a card is. That's called a double standard, and it makes certain people look bad for defending one side or the other.

I can go a step further too.

The availability of the GTX 680 and 690 up to this point has been abysmal at best. Poor yields has been cited as the culprit. So what does nvidia do? They stockpile a bunch of chips that were slightly "less than perfect", stick them in the GTX 670, and call it a day. Unfortunately, there's a very terrible truth hidden in there: The GTX 670 is marginally slower than the HD 7970 in most tests. Since the GTX 670 is the only truly available card out of nvidia right now, and their flagships are MIA, that makes the GTX 670 the current flagship card for the moment, and AMD beats it with the HD 7970, and the HD 7970 is widely available. Ouch.

Thanks for stopping by, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. We don't need another fanboy in this thread. wink.gif

EDIT: I don't support one side or the other until there's a REASON to support it. I'd say the scarce availability of Kepler cards (sans the GTX 670) is reason enough to show that nvidia doesn't have the "game changer" that everyone thought kepler was going to be. It's just another video card. It's a good one, but it has too many compromises to make it a true game changer.
