[CVG] Dead Space 3 rumours: Drop in co-op, crouch cover, new enemies - Page 3

Crouch Cover? DROP IN COOP? Come on. As much as I would like co-op, it just doesn't fit Dead Space. I liked it because it had some good jump scares and decent amount of tension. Having someone watching your back all day ruins that

I hate being a negative nelly, reeks of Mass Effect / EA.

EA is breaking everything I love.

Personally I'm sad to see Deadspace go this route, I don't think I'll be buying this from what I've heard. I just hope for the rest of you, it doesn't end up like F.E.A.R did with it's Co-op. Horror games cannot be Co-op friendly, mainly because having friends makes light of the game.

The "Keep everything the same crowd" needs to go away.
Take your misery elsewhere.

Consoles have been the lead platform from the beginning, so what were you expecting?
Expecting multiplatform games to be a PC masterpiece is insane at best.

Oh really?  What are you going to use crouch mechanics for?  The aliens with no GUNS? or from the aliens coming out the ceiling?

Its a survival horror game not an action MassEffect / GoW game.  Seriously what good will it do when danger lurks 360deg.  The first two games were good, how could you not get that we don't want them to turn it into every OTHER EA game?  Be an apologist elsewhere, people with concerns are actual fans of the first game(s).

Might as well put crouch mechanics in Need For Speed while you are at it.  Or is that just me "Keep everything the same crowd" because we don't want our cars crouching behind the barricades?

I don't think either of these additions are inherently bad. A good game designer could incorporate them in a horror title without destroying the atmosphere and horror aspects. Now, whether EA is up to the task or not remains to be seen.

Visceral Games should be the developer, the Publisher aka PuppetMaster is EA.  I get your point though.

Why are you so worked up over crouch? I could have seen plenty times where it would've saved my butt. I put both games on the hardest difficulty, so something like crouch can be quite useful, strategically.

Its the core concept of EA, I dislike. There might even be human enemies in the third installment (the culties), carrying weappons, making ducking for cover super important.

I am actually mad at EA for Dragon Age II, Mass Effect II, and Mass Effect III and so on. I think this IP has the potential to go the way of crap and it makes me angry because I really liked the IP/Universe story. I have no problem being called out for being worked up (over nothing yet) but EA's track record is the basis of my attitude.

Good survival horror games are so rare and hard to come by, I yearn for them.

i hated that part

i hate scary games in general that pit you against invincible monsters which you have to run from, thus, i wont even try out games like amnesia

I understand what you mean. It didn't dawn on me until now that DS3 will require Origin. Oh well, though. But yes, I really hope they keep the game true to story and, like someone else said, not like the way Resident Evil has turned out.

Slamming high pitched music into the player's ears while a completely visible, disfigured, cliche monster slowly limps towards the player is NOT horror.

EA sucks yes. Deadspace 1+2 were easy and lame. DS1 had broken PC controls and both had crap stories with only jump scares.

Yeh its not like there has ever been any sort of creature or alien or monster that has a biological form of projectiles in the history of gaming, real life, scifi, or fantasy or you know, in the previous deadspace games. Good point.

Deadspace is NOT survival horror. The game gives you so much ammo and medkits and money to buy whatever you want there is never a feelings of vulnerability ever. The first gun you start up with is proficient for 90% of the enemies and the assault rifle is more efficient vs those little blobs. There is no enemy you have to avoid or fear. The game is rarely 360 or 3D, in fact most of it is narrow corridors with a few open areas.

I beat both DS1+DS2 on the hardest modes (well DS2 hardest was just normal but you cant die which is stupid) with an excess of credits, power nodes, and I only upgraded my armor late game like one level up for extra storage. (this was the first playable playthrough of the difficulty too)

And crouching has other functions besides just cover, it could be a form of stealth for getting through an area you otherwise couldnt. Nitpicking about crouching is just stupid. If the game was actually survival horror evasion would be a part of the game (like Penumbra).
