Athlon64 3200+ overclocking problem(s)

Thread Starter
hi,

my current pc specs are ASUS A8N-E MB (nForce4 Ultra), AMD Athlon64 3200+, 2x512mb Corsair XMS DDR, Gainward Bliss 6800gs GLH.
I have 2 problems:

1) i have tried to overclock my cpu/ram, but if i raise the fsb more than 232 it just doesen't boot anymore. i have tried loosening the ram latency and cpu multiplier, but the same problem. if i set the fsb to 233 it just doesen't run anymore. Is this just a physical limitation from my mobo?

2) i set the fsb to 230 mhz and multiplier to 10x, i restart, i reenter bios, it shows me cpu clock 2300 mgz. Good. i restart again. i let him go into windows...the problem is that here it shows me the fsb to 201mhz instead of 230.
If i set the fsb from windows with AiBooster, it works fine then at 230 mhz... until i restart my computer, when it comes back to 201, even if it is set from bios to 230.

Can anybody here please tell me why this is happening?

perhaps a slight bump on the voltages for both may help. Also check your htt and set it to 4x and make sure AMD cool&quiet is disabled

What is your htt set at, it should be 4x, and make sure your pci/agp bus is locked at 33/66, thermal throttaling is disabled, same with cool/quiet.

first thx for info duke
cool&quiet is off.
the multiplier is already at 4x.
i have tried raising the voltages to 2.75 @ ram and 1.525 @ CPU and still not working
i am checking now if the pci bus if it's locked ...
EDIT: i don't have a pci bus clock in bios...just a pci express clock which is set to 100mhz
And what is thermal throttling?

I have the same mobo and I know there's a PCI lock. Go under the JumperFree Configuration and I think it's the bottom one. It should be set at 33 MHz.

Make sure you use "Manual" for both RAM settings and CPU settings.
Perhaps a BIOS update and if you have the lates try flashing back down 1 version.

Did you set a divider for the RAM? Sounds like you've exceeded the max speed for the RAM. Look for either fractions (ie. 5/5, 4/5, 2/3, etc.) or DDR speeds (ie. DDR400, DDR333, DDR266). Put a divider on the memory so that it won't run as fast as the fsb and see how it goes from there.
